Yes, Breath of the Wild is exceptional.

Smash is great and doesn't take that much learning to become OK at (although is very hard to master). If you mainly play online, Splatoon is also excellent. Finally, there are a LOT of very good indie games worth taking a look at.
 
Just pre-ordered Yoshi, very excited for my first Yoshi game.

Also waiting for a good pre-order deal for Luigis Mansion 3 to appear. But I assume they'll start popping up once Nintendo give an actual release date.

Puzzle, platform, RPG, JRPG, fighters, racing, online etc.

Indies works too. Bought Hollow Knight on the PS4 and really enjoyed it

Mixture of all I guess. I have a PS4 as well so the switch will be primarly used for nintendo exclusives.


Anything to watch out for when buying a used Switch? Im eyeing used one local to me.
 
There are a ton of great indies on the Switch don't discount them as they fit great with the portability of the device. Some recommendations are Celeste, Steamworld Dig 2, Undertale, Into The Breach, Golf story, Dead Cells and Stardew Valley.

Is there a way to check banned consoles with out having a nintendo account? I guess this will be hardest to check.
 
Don't think there is. I'm not sure there's any foolproof way to check unfortunately. If the console has been used for pirated games, it is possible that it may have been offline for some time and won't be banned immediately. So it's quite possible to buy a used console that gets banned hours/days/weeks after purchase.

But check it goes online by opening up the store (banned consoles can't). Also, try holding the power button and the volume up button until the console boots. If a screen like this comes up, custom firmware is installed:

octopath traveller for old school like jrpg goodness and exclusive to switch.

mario brothers wii u deluxe is a sweet 2d platformer for up to 4 players, it is an upscaled port of the wii u one.

mario kart 8 deluxe again another upscaled wii u game but very good fun in multiplayer, only tried it on 2 player local, horizon chase turbo is pretty sweet, it is a indie homage to 80,s games like outrun.

also try magicat, it has a adorable cat in a wizard hat and is a decent platformer oh and cat quest an action rpg with cats :)
