*** Nintendo Switch ***

The last Paper Mario came out in 2016. It's far from a cancelled series, but only the first two are worth playing.

Maybe you're thinking of Mario RPG.

There are 5 of them. They make a new one every 4 years.

No I was thinking of paper mario. I just didn't realise one came out so recently, and apparently I wasn't the only one :D

I'm in need of a 2D platformer for quick blitzes. Not sure whether to get New Super Mario Bros U or Donkey Kong Tropical freeze. Or any others anybody would recommend?
I have NSMBU on Wii U but I never get around to play it so that's why I want something portable.

I have Yoshi on pre-order but I'm not sure if that would scratch my itch or not

Rayman legends. /thread.

Better than mario, I’ve got DK but not played it yet.

Celeste is the right answer. Outside of that, what Kreeeee said.

I don't consider Celeste to be in the same genre as the others, but I haven't played it so I can't really comment on it. It's top of my wish list though, and I'll buy it even if it's only on sale for 20% off.

Celeste is a great game and I am more than happy to pay full price for truly brilliant indie games.

Can you make an actual wishlist on the store like you can on steam? Or is it more of keeping a personal list that you check the sales for from time to time?

What day do new deals tend to rotate, is it a weekly thing?

Perfecto, thanks! So I assume new deals come and go on those days too as well as new games being added etc

It's a different kind of platform game but it's still a platform game. What genre would you put it in to? Genuinely interested. Has it still never been on sale? That's pretty unusual.

Like fez said, I am happy to pay full price for something so brilliant. My GoTY last year closely followed by Hollow Knight and Into The Breach. I've been sleeping on indies for too long.

Yeah next to the purchase option is an option to add the game to your wish list. I check mine every Thursday to see if any of the games are on offer.

I put it in the same category as Slime-san and Super Meat Boy. It's a platformer where overcoming difficulty through repetition is the goal while Mario, DKTF and Rayman are more exploration oriented with secrets, collectibles and far fewer deaths.

I love both styles, but some people have a strong preference for one over the other so I have them in distinct categories.

I have far too many games that I bought on sale and haven't finished yet to buy anything at full price, such as Hollow Knight and Into the Breach! No Celeste has never been on sale, so if I run out of my backlog and it's still not on sale I'll get it.

Edit: I'm really struggling to get into Octopath Traveller even after 20 hours in the game. It's a beautiful game but the combat and storytelling are dire.

Dead Cells is also not doing it for me but that's because I can't find the permanent unlocks to travel to more of the map (such as the teleportation statues). I really don't think rogue-likes or rogue-lites are for me. I much prefer a properly designed game.
