*** Nintendo Switch ***

Managed to claim from my contents insurance, and they have just sent the money through (minus excess of course). So I am now going to re-purchase a switch.

Do you think the game cartridges and SD card would also be damaged?

I guess the positive thing is I'll have two docks, so can have one upstairs permanently for when the missus is watching TV.
Games should be alright. If they don't work clean the contacts with Isopropyl and if that doesn't work open up the cart and give the board itself a clean.

Out of interest what are you doing/have you done with the switch itself?

To begin with I put it in rice for a whole day. Then I took the bowl of rice outside in the sun (40 degree weather; was on holidays at the time). I then opened it up as much as I could and cleaned the board with spirit, in case any residue had caked onto any connections. Nothing worked sadly. I’ll try the same with the cartridges as soon as i get a new console.

Ah fair enough. I wouldn't mind messing around with one to try and fix if you end up selling it, depending on the price of course. Water damaged switches are usually a pain to fix though from what I've seen :p.

so mutant zero released on the switch yesterday and as i have it on xbox and enjoyed the first hour i decided to stop and buy it for the switch as it would be a great portable game .

hopefully game will refund me today lol , its ok when on the tv but unfortunatley it seems to play quite slow in portable mode and the writing /subtitles are so small you just cannot read anything that is on the screen . why did they not resize this kind of stuff ? shame really

Got Android up and running on my Switch yesterday. I'm really impressed. A really nice upgrade to what the Switch can do. Game streaming is, IMO, the top feature. Spent half an hour on Kingdom Come: Deliverance and was really impressed by how it looked and performed.

Hoping this is okay to discuss here as the install process is quite separate from "piracy enabling" software. It has been allowed on XDA for that reason.

Shop everywhere is the answer for best prices for physical copies, for 1st party games there will be small difference between all the etailers and high-streets but multi-platform games definitely check them all as a lot of times they will sell them discount after month or so.
Mortal Kombat 11 was selling for £30 for few weeks last month and gone back up at Argos for example.

Offers come up from time to time but generally Nintendo game prices stay fixed on the high street and online - I'm talking first party stuff.

Check HotUKDeals for the game you're after, they usually have the lowest prices up on there.

Thanks guys. So I'll stay tuned to this thread and others like it, as well as HotUKDeals. Are there any decent price comparison tools/sites out there for Switch specifically?

Latest things I've discovered on the Switch Android port:

Bluetooth headphones work. Makes the fact that Nintendo haven't added support in Switch OS even more irritating.

PS4 Remote Play works well.

You're making the mistake a lot of people do in thinking that Nintendo don't do something because its really hard or there is some sort of barrier to it. They don't do it because they don't want to.

P.S cdkeys has switch eshop £30 credit for £26 if people are interested.

Nah. I've simply seen it said previously that the Switch's hardware doesn't support Bluetooth audio. This evidently isn't true. It does. Nintendo just didn't bother to implement it (as per... countless other missing, half-baked, or badly implemented features of the Switch).

Nintendo have been a frustratingly lazy business for as long as I can remember. This is just another example.

The switch cannot simultaneously support 8 joycons and bluetooth audio, so bluetooth audio was not supported.

Hi everyone, so my sons switch controller has that annoying drift issue and I’m aware Nintendo will fix it for free.

What’s the procedure? Who number do I call. And is it just one controller they will fix?

Reason I’m asking is that both controllers don’t clip in properly anymore they just slide out without much force. Left joy in has bad drift but both have the clip in issue.

Many thanks.

I am on my second set and I've had drift on the left Joy-Con with both sets. WD40 contact cleaner works but it's only temporary until dirt builds up beneath the rubber cap. I probably clean them once a month (even if they aren't drifting) and it helps keep the drift away on both sets. Not ideal but I can live with it - I think of it as maintenance. I've read that they can damage the Joy-Con but I have had no issues, myself. Google a how-to if you want to go down this route.

How old is it because Nintendo have only acknowledged the issue in America for now so I think that unless you are within warranty you are out of luck currently in the UK.
