It is kinda funny watching everyone's wants here. People just aren't being realistic.
Yeah, it's odd. Everyone's like :-
"if it doesn't last at least 6+ hours when gaming I'm not buying it and it'll be a total failure"
AND
"It needs to be a least as powerful as a home console like the PS4/XB1 or it's a complete disaster"
Nintendo are just using basically off-the-shelf chipsets and batteries. You can't expect them to defy the laws of physics by inventing something which delivers longer battery life and more CPU/GPU power than the companies who are actually designing the hardware both Nintendo and their competitors are using!
I never read any complaints about the battery life on the previous DS range or it ever being a deal breaker that they were only rated for 3-5 hours.

Looking further back at the older range some of the original Nintendo DS, DS lite and Gameboy Advance range did last closer to 8 hours. Perhaps that's what people are basing their expectations on? However that was really quite basic hardware and only capable of running simple 2D games. I'm sure when playing something like Shovel Knight on the Switch you'll get closer 8 hours but not on a modern 3D title which actually taxes the hardware.
ANYWAY, DRAWING A LINE UNDER THIS POINTLESS SPECULATION.....................................
Let's try and get away from bickering over battery life/hardware specs we don't yet know and focus on the games as this thread is degenerating into an argument over nothing.
I've never owned a Wii U or a 3DS so have missed out on pretty much every Nintendo exclusive over the last 5 years. I'm sure a lot of people will be in this situation. I was hoping to pick up a cheap second hand WiiU or 3DS with some games but looking on Amazon and eBay stock seems to have dried up and prices are through the roof for both games and hardware so it doesn't look seem like there's any point in pursuing that at the moment now the Switch is about to be released,
Any recommendations for Wii U or 3DS games we should keep an eye out for ports or updates of on the Swtich?
I've been having a scan and so far I'm interested in :-
Mario Kart
Splatoon
New Super Mario Bros
Pokemon
Fire Emblem
Mario Maker
Is there anything else I should be keeping an eye out for WiiU/3DS ports of?
