*** Nintendo Switch ***

Anyone know anything about the virtual console yet? Wind Waker HD would be awesome! Also still keep hoping Skies of Arcadia might come to this one day.

The best thing about the Switch is playing with friends. There are a bunch of great local 4-8 player games that have been great fun at our various gatherings. Bringing my modded portable dock with me and a spare set of joy cons means instant 4 player fun wherever we are.

Bomberman, Worms, Overcooked, Death Squared, Mario Kart, Arms, Snipperclips and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime have all been a riot.

A portable AAA games machine is good, but a portable friendship ruiner is amazing.

What made yous choose the switch over the PS4/Xbone, looking at getting something to reinstate my love for gaming....

I bought a 4k TV last month, mainly for my PS4 Pro. However it's so difficult to get gaming time on the TV with a family that I've still ended up playing on the Switch as I can play handheld whenever and dock if I do get some TV time.

I can't remember the last time I played a PS4 game for any period of time actually, probably a month ago when I got the TV.

As a parent, the Switch is superb.

I have an Xbox one and have had it a long time. It's a great console and I use it everyday for watching TV, listening to music etc. I've played a fair few games on it but none have kept me interested like Zelda did (and I have never been a Zelda fan). The portability is great - portable has always meant crap and while it isn't as powerful as the full fat consoles it is a proper gaming experience not a naff resolution, slow, clunky toy.

I have used the switch so much more than my xbox. Best console since the n64 for me without doubt.

Its good to see the Switch getting so much love! feels like a proper gaming experience to me, i never thought id use the portable mode but it works so well!

Keep up the good work Nintendo!

Given wii games are going to be available on the nvidia shield in China, it must mean they will be available on the switch too right?

Similar? It's exactly identical! They both use a standard X1 SoC.

Except the X1 in the Switch has the A53 cluster disabled, and both the A57 cores and GPU is underclocked. Apart from that they're the same. Still, hopefully it can still get GC/Wii games running, maybe not at 1080p.

I believe the Gamecube/Wii games coming to Nvidia Shield in China are streamed (so not actually running on the Shield hardware).

If the rumour about them being HD versions is true though, that's a a strong indication that we'll see full releases on Switch at some point.

So the Shield is more powerful than the Switch? That seems crazy. Why would Nintendo limit power and disable cores?

Lower thermals, higher yield and longer battery life.

Also the switch will produce far better looking games than the shield ever could as it doesn't have the extra layer of abstraction that a bloated operating system has.

I have a PC, and good old Nintendo reliability on the games front. I got a PS4 a few years back, googled some games and then sold it a week later. Nothing appealed, but Nintendo brings out so many games that appeal to me (that I can't get on PC).
