Nissan GTR Owners and Lovers Thread

Got my car booked into Litchfield in a few weeks time, some nice little additions to the car which should improve the noise and ride quality, and a bit more power if that was ever needed :D

Downpipes
Suspension from MY11
New sub & amp, the Bose system is lacking a bit in the bass department
Sound deadening in the rear and boot
GFB BOVs

Also going to look into a silenced y-pipe so I can get on some trackdays, can't juse use the OEM one as it needs to me 90mm to match up with the GTC system though.

All good, BOVs are personal preference though I guess :p

I don't think they even do anything between gear changes because there is no let off if you are doing wide open throttle acceleration.
At least with the GFB ones you can stick them on full recurilate when you get tired of the sound (I had one on my last Impreza).

I also did dynamat extreme behind the rear seats, around the gearbox tunnel and in the boot, pretty much cut out all the gearbox noise and stopped some weird vibration I was getting with the 102mm exhaust.

MY11 suspension will be nice, normal mode will feel like soft for you!

The latest ECUTek software look very good also.

^JP^ I have to say your car looks absolutely gorgeous. That first picture of the back 3/4 shot really is a cracking photo. Do you have multiple sets of wheels? As I've noticed you've got some different wheels fitted in your sig picture. Any chance of a large version of that photo as I think I prefer those wheels to the ones in the first post.

Thanks!
The sig picture isn't my car, just a generic picture that was sig size so I stole it to use.
No photography skills to get a good picture of my own :(

I think to get a good set of wheels comparable to OEM you are looking at atleast 5-6k, the cheaper ones are very heavy or low quality.

I like the ADV.1 wheels but they are $12k or so from memory.

The ADV10 is very nice:

Thanks, I will keep that in mind, lets see how this winter is weather wise!

Thinking of the Blizzak LM25 OEM on the stock wheels and some nice stock size but with may be a bit extra offset to fill the gap ADV with the summer tyres on.

Yeah the BOVs will only be heard after letting off the throttle in manual, bought them whilst I was in USA so I can get my money back on GTROC if I decide to sell them.

Can't wait to reduce the mechanical noise from the car, one thing I didn't miss whilst driving a Camaro over there was the mechanical noisiness of the GTR at low speed.

Also going to see if Litchfield have their own DRLs as I know SVM do and I do prefer the look of the car with them. Not in the MY11 position but more central.

If you're paying any reasonable amount for the MY11 suspension I'd say don't bother. While my 2013 was more comfortable than my '09, it was still pretty bad. I'd rather save my money and buy the proper setup that Litchfield sell themselves. If you're getting them for a steal then by all means go for it, it can't be any worse!

you know, I had gone off cars since having kids - but damn you JP! - Made my heart skip a beat seeing the original post.

Respect!

(Seeing the maintenance figures though bloomin eck - now I understand why my mate only kept his for a year lol)

Love the GTR's to bits, would love one after the Evo but in reality I need to spend my moneys on the house at the moment but one day I might just have to go for it :D

I still need to go out in one properly though, missed the opportunity at the last rolling road day with you JP as the Mrs was giving me evils as she wanted to go home lol

It is hard but no worse than my lowered 350z. The newer ones have slightly tweaked suspension which makes for a smoother ride. Also have to remember that the OEM tyre is a run flat which on any car will cause a harsher ride. A lot if owners swap to MPSS tyres and find the ride a lot better.

The ride is hard but I like it, driving normal cars without runflats and stiff suspension is like driving a boat to me now :p

If you have ever been Karting and go over the rumble strips, thats like being in the GTR ;)

Had the car on Dyno Dynamics rollers today, 614hp/625lb-ft. Was expecting a little more on the hp side but the tuner reckons he could get it up to 640hp with a tweak of the map. Probably not going to notice much of a difference between how it currently is and what it could be as the torque is capped anyway without an engine build.

But for now, that shall do! Next year I might look into new turbos to get it up to 720/650.

Also had the exhaust noise measured as per track day guidelines, 99db! Looks like I'll be taking the car on track next year as MSV track days are 105db static and 92db drive-by, will just have to shift a little early on any straights.

Nice results. Bigger turbo inlet pipes and may be a larger exhaust is the only thing holding it back.

I keep looking doing more but I wouldn't want to do bigger turbos taking the engine out to fit them without doing something to the engine, and then I would worry about the gearbox so it just snowballs from there.

Would look something like this:

Forged Rods, Pistons, balanced run in etc £6k
GT30 based turbos (SVM GT1050 ones) £5k
1-6 gear set or treated stock gears £3-6k
18 plate clutch with billet baskets and other gearbox parts £5k
Fueling and Intercooler plus other misc parts £5k
Syvecs ECU and tuning £5k

So somewhere in the region of £30k would build you a 900-1000hp pump fuel car that would be built to withstand that kind of power.

Then I go and drive mine with 650bhp and wonder wtf was I thinking and put my wallet away

Enjoy you car :D

People will buy it but damn too expensive, you really have to love Nissan to spend that much on one.
I would rather have a pre owned MP4 for around that price!

I do like the bodykit and wheels though.
