To be honest, I REALLY want to see one of these races. It sounds like you have a really quick car for what money has been spent on it. Do you take it on track days at all? If so, how does it fair?

He's getting more ambitious in each race. Is it going to be a Veyron next?

Not sure it's any more ambitious. DB9 and GT-R are similar weight (1800kg-ish?) and similar power (500and-a-bit-ish?) so I'd expect them to be close in a straight line?

According to Torquestats, the GTR is 2 seconds quicker to 100 than the DB9 and 1.5 seconds quicker to 60.

Japanese Voodoo Magic Trickery stuff :p

I was thinking more in a rolling start situation as the GT-R's 4WD, launch control jiggery and rapido gearbox would give it the advantage. 2 seconds is loads to 100 but I think they'd be pretty close in the reeeaal world. Anyway, it's largely irrelevant as Mr Salami's mx-5 could clearly take out the Batmobile.

Motor Trend suffer in the journo stakes but their figures always get chucked about in forums and the like because of their comprehensive testing and ideal conditions...GT-R vs DB9 had 30-70 mph in 3.4 for the DB9 compared to 2.5 for the GT-R and 70-100 mph in 4.7 for the DB9 and 3.8 for the GT-R.

I've changed my mind I actually quite like the GT-R now. I only hope they don't become too common because at the end of the day they're pretty good value given they're one of the fastest production cars on the road.

What happened to that incident a while back where Porsche were claiming Nissan's lap times were lies. It's still to this day difficult to imagine a GT-R beating a GT2 by such a margin as claimed.

Porsche could not get anything better than 7:54. HvS, in an independent Sport Auto supertest, did 7:38. When Nissan returned with the UK-spec and did 7:27, Porsche representatives were invited and in attendance.

That's quite a turnaround after the drawn out "chav" arguments you were part of before!

Not really all that close then :p

Came across one of these today and spoke to the guy afterwords. What a HUUUGE car, but tiny inside.

Open empty dual carrageway in between 2 roundabouts up a slight hill. He had a passenger.

Cheated a bit and got the jump off the first roundabout. He was definitely catching me up, but not as fast as you'd think, and not in time before we had to break for the next roundabout. I'd say this was almost half a mile in between roundabouts. Same story again on the next section of road.

Pulled over and spoke to him and he's a top bloke who was genuinely interested in the car.

Had a third pull with him and went on a signal. I was in 2nd and he began to creep away, then I missed third gear and he was away.

Good encounter, and the first one I've seen on the road.

Very impressive car ..... oh and i WANT one :D :thumb-up:

if a GTR was 'trying to race you' he would have tore your flimsy vinyl roof off as he sped past, probably tearing your body panels off also at same time :)

you think you had a encounter with a GTR on the road, you mearly spotted one....I think there is a thread for that ;)

I think the "creep away* is the icing on your post

edit: of course it was impressive, it's a supercar, your in a mx5 shed (comparitvely speaking)

I used to get people like the OP "racing" me all the time when I had my R34 GTR. I'd just let them overtake because I couldn't be bothered to waste the petrol. Little did I know that like the OP they were probably jumping straight out of the car onto a forum to talk about how they "kept up with a Skyline".
