No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

So glad I resisted the hype for NMS after being mightily disappointed with Elite. Could see the whole 'wide as an ocean, shallow as a saucer' thing coming (again!) a mile off.

All hopes lie with Star Citizen now I guess.

Pretty much sums up NMS - its rarely not the case with procedural generation so not sure why people always get so hyped up for it.

Tbf to Elite Dangerous many of its features are still being developed & added. Tbf to NMS... hmm, sorry I can't. Anyway, ED is something you should keep an eye imho & give a revisit from time to time - if you 'played' Star Citizen now you'd be pretty disappointed with it I suspect. :)

I've said elsewhere that imho ED & SC will end up around about the same in amount of 'content' & 'things to do,' but will be implemented differently. SC probably won't be released for 2 years & ED has a solid player base with a steady source of revenue so it will continue to be developed. As for NMS, dead imho & with a playerbase one quarter of ED's I doubt any further serious development will be done to it.

I think it would be fair to say TO THIS POINT the SC/ED/NMS canon has been mightily disappointing.

:(

NMS is already dead, a absolute debacle and one of the biggest scandals in gaming I can remember, little short of a con really.

yeah pretty much sums up my feelings bar the hype bit, I ignored all that and looked at the steam store page (more fool me).

A genuinely great concept, middle to good execution let down by false promises.
