No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Just a heads up, if you want to use mods make a "MODS" folder in GAMEDATA>PCBANKS. Then drop your mod files (.pak) into that. There is a readme file in PCBANKS explaining this in further detail I have just noticed, so my mods have gone bye bye.. time to redownload.

Path Finder Vehicle Update due this week.

Hello Games has announced that a new update will arrive for No Man's Sky this week. Called the Path Finder Update, it "introduces a new vehicle that will aid home planet exploration, building on the Foundation Update to hint at a path ahead for the future." We're pretty certain this vehicle will be a land-based buggy of some sort, based on the hidden files found by Redditor eegandj back in November of last year (the image above is from eegandi's video of importing the model into the game).

So rather than walking, it'll just be driving around a very similar planet to the last one to hoover up the exact same resources? What's the betting that you have to stop every few km or so to hoover up said resources to 'repair' the vehicle just keep it running?

Wow I forgot this game even existed. But I suppose that is what Hello Games wants now lol

I think it will go down as the biggest lie in gaming history.

While Hello Games did lie, the gaming community has to take some of the blame too. They hyped it way too high, all pre orderd and then got burned. I have no sympathy for people who pre-order then moan about what they get.

Yea but he blatantly lied to interviewers faces. You videos are still on youtube :p

It has about 500 simultaneous players on PC so they've probably lost a huge cash cow for years by their actions; whatever the reasons behind them were. It's a UK studio, and a shame, but even with the update I don't think I would buy it. Elite Dangerous & Star Citizen seem like the only games with a long term future in this genre atm: Hello Games blew it & can't recover now imho.

I wonder if the game would have turned out differently if they hadn't lost their office to a flood in 2013/14.

Wow - saw that in passing at some point but never really thought about it before. Most places I've worked in (back in the days before easy cloud, etc. storage) that did game or software dev one of the managers would burn off regular CDs for backup and keep them in a safe at home - unbelievable they didn't at the very least have someone taking a backup on a USB drive or something home with them.

I've set up a couple of friends with small offices like that with either qnap or synology NAS setup to do remote replication to either an identical NAS elsewhere or to cloud storage - its a pretty low budget, easy to get going, option.

Downloading it, the buggy is a great inclusion and I want to see it running in HDR 4k :)

Some nice features added, but will it be enough ?

HBAO makes a huge difference to the visuals, impressed they've managed it on the standard PS4 as well. Not had more than a few minutes to try it out yet though.

Is it enough? Nothing will ever be enough for some people. For people like me that didn't go all in on the hype train and enjoyed the game at launch it's a nice free update and good excuse to dive back in for a while.

Thats ironic. As a result of the last two updates, I actually decided today, basically 1 hour ago, to add No Mans Sky to my steam wishlist, just to keep an eye on it in case it came significantly down in price or developed further enough to tempt me.

Lo and Behold, 10 mins after I add it to my steam wishlist, it pops up at 40% off. Lol.
