Why? why would you want it to tank?

I'm guessing you're just a stupid little child.

Wow where did that come from? I've received less heat from Brexit apostoles. :D

I want it to fail because I don't appreciate this trend of 'make your own adventure' , infinite procedural generation rubbish that's being pushed by quite a few developers lately. I think many of these games are lazy money grabs that promise a lot and fail to deliver much.

We will see. :)

So you potentially want people to lose their jobs and people waste their hard earned money who have preorderd as you dont like the games style.

Also lazy? How much game development have you done or been around to know its lazy?

As i said before surely you want every gsme to be great as it only benefits us gamers.

Yep you come across as a complete clown.

The employees will survive, they are not part of a charity, they are part of a business and those sometimes fail when the products they sell are not good enough. It's lazy because the repetitive content is hidden under different skins created by an algorithm.

The hype these games receive remind me of the hype MMOs were getting a few years ago. Each new one promised a revolution but instead each of them provided repetitive, empty content. And each of them are today either cancelled or f2p.

Procedural generation should be a feature, not an entire foundation. Terraria would be just another Minecraft clone without the progressions given by items, NPCs, bosses, platform gameplay all of which having a structure carefully crafted by an actual person rather than an algorithm. The same applies to FTL or other succesful games in which procedural generation is used.

So far, this game seems to be focused on nothing else. If that's the case it will probably fail.

It won't 'fail', too many people will buy it on release. I am not expecting much depth, but I will buy it due to it being unique and my kind of game. Not expecting miracles though. Anyone who would want it to fail need to get a life tbh.

You clearly have no clue how much talent and hard work is required to build a game like this. Go tell the devs that are in the midst of an intense crunch period trying to get them game out they're 'lazy'.

Wanting a game to fail....what a sad, empty little life you must lead :(

Its bound to fail. What is there to actually do in it so far? Walk around, fly? Then what? Sure the game has "tons to explore" but Im sure there will be more of the same once you've been to a handful of planets.

If you don't like them, then don't buy them you fool. Don't wish for games to fail because you don't like them.

Lazy money grabs! - why isn't your ire directed at BF, COD, Fifa, WOW etc? - the absolute epitome of lazy money grabbing.

I seriously doubt the guys producing the game are lazy - your lack of research on the matter definitely is though.

Clown.

1) The world doesn't revolve around you. If you're not interested in this type of game, cool. Nobody cares. Buy/play something you ARE interested in. There's hundreds or even thousands of games to choose from.

2) You have no idea what you're talking about calling this a 'lazy money grab'. This is an extremely passionate, small team of developers out to make their 'dream game'. And they've been working on it for quite a long time now.

3) They are actually not promising the world. Sean Murray has said many times he's not sure how people are going to actually receive the game and that it's really going to be down the individual to define what they get from it, if anything. It's a game that isn't built for everybody and that's a good thing.

I've gotta say you're fully deserving of the ribbing you've gotten over that self-centered and frankly, *dumb* comment.

Its bound to fail.

Given how high profile the game is now and how small the British indie developer is, I can't see how by any possible metric the game is going to fail.

The gameplay I've seen tells me enough to know it's something I'm going to enjoy. Doesn't appeal to you? Don't buy it.

Wow, this has got heated recently.

I genuinely hope this game does well on both PC and PS4. I know I've previously said I think some games get way over-hyped but that's just my opinion and as has been quoted earlier, if I don't like a game I simply play something else and leave said game to those who enjoy it.

I still think there are overrated games out there but again, everyone has an opinion on that and it's not for me to say a particular game is crap because there are always plenty of people who disagree, and I'd never wish for a game to be a total failure regardless of what it is, who the developer is or even what platform it's on.

Again, I'm looking forward to giving this a try and regardless of how it turns out I'm sure I'll get some degree of enjoyment out of it.

No one can say the game is good or bad until it's at least come out and been played by enough people that there's information out there to make a judgement. Even then, it may not be to your taste, but many others might love it.

A small, passionate independent dev house, doing something different that looks unique? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until the reviews from the early adopters arrive and say otherwise.

I've certainly stirred up a hornet's nest.

I know you lads are emotionally invested in some of these games so I apologise for the offense I've caused.

Maybe I am wrong, who knows? :p

Well there is even less to do in that Squadron 42 / Star Citizen game and that doesn't seem to be doing too badly.
I actually couldn't believe the total lack of content in it when I tried it, yet some people have somehow sunk hundreds of hours in and spent hundreds of pounds buying ships to do doing absolutely nothing in so I presume this will be fine.

Don't under estimate a gamers need to play a game and even more so to like it. Content very rarely matters when emotion takes over.

You are wrong. People didn't react because they care if you **** off a game, they reacted because they can't fathom why you would want want to see a game fail.

They've talked quite a bit about what you'll be doing.

What we dont know is just how the gameplay loop will play out in practice and whether it gets overly repetitive or not.

Maybe I just need to look further into it then. I know about collecting materials, improving your ship/armour and progressing through more difficult worlds but I don't know of any other gameplay elements.

There's a language system, and a network of NPCs. You need to read these rosetta stone type artifacts as you're exploring which will enable you to understand more of the NPC's language which will open up more interaction opportunities with them.

It's as much a survival game as an exploration game from the more recent videos.

I'm hoping there's a hardcore permadeath mode.

Ok that sounds much better than what I knew. I do wonder though, in a universe that's so big and hard to visit even 0.1% of it all, how you'll ever find a lot of this stuff and feel like you're getting much out of the game.
