No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

There's a language system, and a network of NPCs. You need to read these rosetta stone type artifacts as you're exploring which will enable you to understand more of the NPC's language which will open up more interaction opportunities with them.

It's as much a survival game as an exploration game from the more recent videos.

I'm hoping there's a hardcore permadeath mode.

You also gain rep & access to their ships & equipment by trading/fighting alongside them as well.

Not heard about faction missions so I suspect they aren't in, but I'm still really looking forward to it.

It's always better to be late than broken. Anyone who thinks otherwise and has the entitlement to bitch about it is a child with no self-control. "Wahhh, I want my game now, I don't care if it's not finished!"

Go away and play something else. Getting away from the hype that obviously makes those people unable to control their emotions will be a good thing for them.

Have I missed something, but people commenting on the amount of hype this game is getting, I've not seen much in the way of it. I've seen a few vids of the developers being interviewed & some fan vids, but compared to Generic Shooter 16 (and the like) there just isn't that much hype at all, especially for such an ambitious game

There was a lot more hype for it earlier on, like last year. Kind of petered out once the release date was given and we all realized it was still quite a ways away. Pretty sure it'll pick back up once we're 2-3 weeks away from release. Sony will be pushing it hard most likely, so it should get some advertising attention and wont be some stealth release or anything.

Its bound to fail. What is there to actually do in it so far? Walk around, fly? Then what? Sure the game has "tons to explore" but Im sure there will be more of the same once you've been to a handful of planets.

that is my biggest fear, but i guess it's similar to how people might have viewed minecraft. i remember looking at it and thinking all you do is move one block from one place and put it in another, but now it's probably my most played game with friends. my fear is this is just too basic and nothing to invest into.

ok exploring you can definitely do which seems great, but just like exploring in minecraft, it's only fun for a short while and you need something to do as a result of exploring.

learning languages by reading those stones. an ok idea but really as the planets have little to do on them but walk about, and no reason to come back as, as soon as you leave everything you've changed has been reset, why would you bother to learn too much. you spend a load of time learning a language to buy an item you want to then fly off and never come back. if you do come back what would it be for?

getting to the centre of the universe. this is where they've definelty been sneaky. they say it's "multiplayer", but hide behind the fact the universe is so big you'll only ever see 0.00001 of the planets so you'll never see other players, but then they say you can get to the centre, which many will do so surely you would see other players. if it's too big to find other players, it's too big to find the centre. if it's small enough to get to the centre, it's small enough to get to other players.

i love the idea of endless space travel, but i really wish things you did to planets remained. imagine minecraft. you build a house. then go over mountain and find that section with your house has been reset. had that been the case i don't think i'd ever play minecraft again after the first few hours.

i'm very interested in this game, and hope to buy it, but i'll be waiting a few weeks until after release to get it. never understood why grown men as so impatient to play a game. it's not like a movie at the cinema where if you don't watch it week 1/2 it may go for ever. once this game is out it's out for good.

I thought once you'd discovered a planet it would become permanent, so if another player visited they'd see what you'd seen.

The planets are always the same for every player. The only thing that'll change is the 'Discovered by' label, the names of species etc.

That is the limit of the multiplayer, as it stands from information HG have put out. There is no 'multiplayer'. If you are expecting a game where you can fly around with friends, you are going to be disappointed.
