No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Had a play last night. Loaded up my 70hr creative savegame. Aside from an in-ship graphical glitch (which is liveable with), this update is exactly what I wanted.
Graphics vastly improved, tweaks here and there (i.e. space stations) really make a difference. As I'm 70hrs in, haven't met anyone yet, but literally only played for an hour...

Found some horrid planets, including a couple with firestorms so bad you couldn't actually see where you were flying.

Overall, this update is apparently awesome...

Yup, performance is much improved for me. 30-40 FPS more. Cpu is getting killed though.

Vsync is keeping me at 60 with around 70% GPU load.
CPU load is pretty low as yet, that might change as the game continues

So far I'm impressed with this update, kinda like the third person viewpoint.
Using mouse and cursor for land movement and I'll use my Xbox controller for flight, with inverted controls

I understand that.

Whilst I'm sure I'll enjoy it for a few days, I can't see me sticking around as there's no actual point to it... it does feel rather skin deep.

Also, the optimisation is dire.

My CPU and GPU aren't being utilised and no matter my graphics settings, 30pfs is about all I get on land. One upside is the machine remains silent, no fans spin up. Not sure a game has ever achieved that before.

You sure you haven't left the FPS cap on by accident, I did and couldn't work out why I was getting headaches for the first couple of hours

When I started NEXT I had 2 other people with me, doing the game as normal. You can choose to join a game at the start if you have their steam name and then you are placed near them AFAIK.

I "think" you can find random people but I'm looking for proof.

for anyone getting tired of the grind and constantly needing to make fuel cells, just watch for a mod to cut that down to 5%,10%,25%,50% usage etc. It wont take long.

It irks me no end having to make fuel cells all the time due to take off costs being stupidly high.

Yep was going to suggest the same thing, under settings the default framerate limit is 30, set mine to max as running on GSync and performance is grand for me.

A tip I have found (and possibly a bug) - when mining stop just as it is about to overheat. Once the temperature starts falling start mining again and the temperature jumps straight back down to zero. You don't have to wait for it to cool down.

I thought that was by design, that's how I've been mining!

It's set to 60 and vsync off. It's weird.

Ryzen 2700x and RX 580. No issues on any other games and very peculiar that CPU load is about 5-10%.

I have very poor performance at high settings, motion blur off.. I have set Vsync on in NCP as I am getting drops to 30FPS before bouncing back up to 60FPS, however that has made no difference.
My CPU is running near 100% but GFX card is stead at 80... It was never like this before. I appreciate they have nade improvements but it is killing the immersion.

Got back into it last night after not playing for a year.
Still a nice chilled out wander around. No interest in base building or multiplayer for me (never was) but could do with some major performance tweaks. CPU is working overtime and that's not great in this weather.

So overall this seems like a really good step to get me into having a go at NMS however the limit of 4 in group and only 16 total is just too limiting for me as I like to have more interaction. Hoping in some distant future we can have larger groups of say 16 and 192 total players per server then I could really see this being of interest where you can have your own factions and similar vying for planets and resources more.

Add in more NPC fauna that is dangerous with hopefully new fauna/flora coming in these weekly updates and keep improving the AI for them and it really could be something on that front.

The base-building along with Voxel terrain system is excellent and visually looks much better than previous (at least once the clouds and tessellation makes in officially in). Then add more depth and greater range of ships with more components for parts to switch out, craft and similar and this has the makings for some great options to do a little PVE/PVP or not (purely down to scale of the galaxy).

It's weird - my Ryzen 1600 is also getting very low usage whilst the GPU is the opposite. When I say weird because others here are reporting theirs getting thrashed. Performance is okay at 1440p but it does fluctuate too much for my liking.
