No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

This is looking great with the latest updates. How is it for multiplayer - is the same universe persisted for everyone (e.g. everyone will see a base I build, come across others gathering resources same location etc). Number of players per same universe - limit?

16 max limit, 4 in coop. You can choose to be online or not in options. If you choose to be online, you can 1) enter your own 'instance'. You can still see others but they can enter your game (or you theirs) so to speak. Your games kind of overlap. You can see other players on the galaxy map as contacts after scanning. In this first mode you will start as normal in your own area and planets/discoveries etc. 2) You can group up with friends or randoms online and start at any one of your groups instances (I think it's random whose instance is used if playing with randoms, don't know if you can select whose to use if you group with friends). If you start at someone else's location you bring your inv etc with you but may be very far away from 'your area'.

That could have been explained better, hope it makes sense :)

AMD? It always struggled on mine. A 1080Ti, unsurprisingly, fixed this.

Yep and only a 290x, which I realise isn't great. But when they list the minimum specs as 'i3, 8GB RAM and nVidia GTX 480, AMD Radeon 7870' I would expect to have a chance of running it reasonably well with a 2500K, 8GB and 290x at 1080P, especially if I lower the settings. The only additional info they seem to give for recommended specs is "Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system"

An upgrade is tempting, but not sure I want to do that for just one game, I can run other stuff fine at high enough settings to look decent.

Where are you all building bases?? Planet types I mean? Best part of 30 hours played this time around and I still haven't found a suitable. Think I am being faaarrr too fussy lol. Am looking for a wealthy system with low conflict and any of the lush type planets with no bloody storms and low Sentinels. Got close, but there's always one thing!

Same here, I really need to get cracking on with it to open up that whole line of quests, but the best places for a base I have found so far have been "terraforming catastrophes"

Oh this looks perfect!....Incoming firestorm :p

I think I've just found one. Not had a storm yet and moderate climate. Sentinels are relaxed as well. Will explore further on Monday.

Picked this up from GMG yesterday (£16 with additional e-mailed discount voucher) and made a start last night. I've gone through the initial bits of the tutorial and have flown to a new planet to follow a signal.... When I arrived I found a crashed ship which I landed next to and 'added to my collection'. When I've started this morning the crashed ship has disappeared (although the camp/flag/other debris is still there). The claimed ship is still in my quick menu to summon or whatever the phrase is, but it's greyed out. Have I lost it, is this a bug or is there a way to retrieve it?

Not sure, I guess once you get a freighter it will appear there, basing that on what I read. I'm still early on myself and only have one ship, just swapped my starter ship for one with a bit more storage.

The ships can appear and disappear from your hangers.

Came across my first S class starship, but it wasn’t an exotic or better than mine. Have a few S class freighters now. I sent a single C class on a difficult mission hoping it would get destroyed, but it somehow survived :(

I have started on one planet, seems okay enough, LOTS of di-hrdrogen, carbon, copper deposits. Fair few burried technology units as well. Only annoying thing is the space station is a minute or so hyperdrive trip :p

Is there a selling terminal you can build do we know? For contact with the market etc

Not that I have seen or heard of.
Some people build there base near or around a trade station/anything with a terminal.
50hrs in and have not started a main base yet, just got Atlas pass V3 from a manufacturing base, thats nice I guess.

Giant flying worms....

Thought I found a nice base planet, but soon noped out of there.

That is the one that I want. Haven’t seen any on my current save and have spent a good 6-7 hours searching. Crazy that you just can’t go to a ship seller and buy one.

Build a teleporter and you can get anywhere you want very quickly.

Unfortunately, while I am enjoying the new gameplay, NEXT has killed all variation in the game. We used to have planets with different sky colours, ocean colours, cave systems with their own ecosystems. All gone now and limited to a small set of planets that fit into one of the crafting categories. A real shame.
