No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

how the game gets gold if it is not released by amount of pre orders ?

evolve gone gold look at it now free to play

"Gone gold" is nothing to do with the quality of the game or the number of sales. It just means the game is finished and gone to the publishers. It's from the CD age when the final gold master was written and sent to the duplicators.

Then theres no point making any bases or anything, or wait... can you even do that? lol this game, pointless.

There's lots of games that don't let you build bases. In NMS you're more of a nomad adventurer, with everything you need you take with you. Upgrading your suit/ship/weapons, moving on to the next planetary system, seeing what's happening on the next part of your journey. That's enough for a lot of people, and bases don't fit in with the motif of constantly moving on to the next place to see the next thing.

I suspect it's more like a first person adventure game, with loot and levelling set in space and on planets, not some kind of strategy/basebuilding/hardcore combat game.

I have to say I'm skeptical about this game after seeing how elite failed to make exploration rewarding. That said, I will await release to see how they've done it before deciding whether to buy it or not. I do like my space games!

Exploration is the games main focus as far as I'm aware.

I'm taking a leap of faith with this & getting it when it comes out. I'm like you, really like space games & the ability to fly onto & land on any planet & explore sounds pretty cool.

I'm with you Wordy, personally I think I'd get £1/hour of play out of it making it value for money. I'm hoping for a fairly relaxing game with lots to see :-)

Problem with ED was that exploration consisted of just sitting in the void of space looking at various different coloured spheres. There's a lot to like about the game but the exploration side (for now) is poop.

I'll be happy parked on the sofa cruising around checking out new places, the deciphering alien language part sounds interesting, and the survival side should be enough meat on the bones.

Also, from a professional point of view I'm looking forward to dissecting the game and figuring out what techniques they've used.

suppose you're right. i think my frustration is i want this sort of game but with even more in it so it can be the sort of game i buy now and am still playing in 2/3 years time. in it's current state i can't see that being the case. i hope that once it's out i like it enough to get it, and i hope that it works with VR and works well.

I want it , I'm going to buy it but my main issue is the price tag for what is an unknown developer and it's first game. I think 29.99 would have been a better price.
