No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Any graphics settings people should be using? all these screenshots look amazing... and mine looks like blurry jaggy mess, even will all on high / ultra.

I don't have a Rift/S but what you describe sounds like a symptom of the controllers losing themselves because the inside out cameras don't register them when too close to the head. I'm no expert, but that was a problem with the system of inside out devices.

I was though of the understanding that they improved the situation with a firmware update.

I played a few hours at the weekend on creative and the game is now far more playable on my 5700xt and I really enjoyed it. Am I correct in thinking all of the main quests are available in creative? I find normal mode a bit too much of a grindfest.

Ah, kinda obvious I guess, whilst at the same time would have totally screwed me over.

They would stick, and the system wouldn't recognize that you have actually lowered your arms.

The tracking issues have long since been resolved with a series of firmware updates. It's practically flawless now, even in competitive shooters like Onward and Pavlov.

In game TAA and FXAA (even just TAA), in my experience with the game, make the textures slightly blury. I don't mind the edge's artifacts of missing AA. If it would have been MSAA, that would have been a different story.

Tried the new update briefly, power management and building is still crap.

Couldn't even figure out how to power a door, everything appears to wired but there is no power, even though the batteries contain power. The base building was decent before but now it's just broken.

I just picked this up on Steam sale. Been playing a little today. Made millions by finding ancient bones in my first couple of hours... anyway...

It's a strange one. I'm not entirely sure what the overall objective is. I'm currently going through the "Awakening" mission which I assume is the tutorial. We'll see how I go. I'm guessing that the purpose is to make your own purpose? Be it, exploring, building, making money etc...

To be honest I was hoping they would scrap the whole wiring part of the game and either abstract it or automate the wiring. It is a pita imo and just counts to your object limitations in your base

If they want to see how to do to power properly look at Subnautica, also why would you ONLY have solar and biofuel for power? it makes no sense.

While I truly commend the free updates and the devotion the team have put to making this game something great over the last few years, I actually now think at this point in time they just stop where they are.

Can you then imagine the hype and excitement they could generate by saying, "we are now working on a No Man Sky 2, we are taking everything we've learnt from the community and the recent updates, putting in an updated visual engine which will look like the E3 footage we showed back for the original demonstration purposes, we are adding a true MP RPG game with a meaningful and deep story which has real purpose".

The internet would melt, the hype machine would go into frenzy again, they'd make millions and millions, it's got a huge fanbase and millions of followers.

Or alternatively, people might still be sceptical because they're making promises again and the last time they did that, they didn't deliver on them. It's taken them up until now to actually deliver what they promised at E3. Everyone keeps praising their continued development and additions to the game, but they've actually only done what they should have done in the first place and released a good, stable, working game that has content to play through. Sure, there have been other things added to the game that they didn't plan for release, but they have to do that in each update otherwise it won't bring people back. It took almost two years to get a game working the way they said it would when they showed everything at E3 all those years ago. Their studio would have literally died if they'd have not continued the development of NMS because nobody would buy anything else they release. Thinking they've done what they've done because they care about the players isn't right. They've done what they've done for their own self preservation.

I'm happy that the game is working now, and I'll certainly give it a proper go now that I've upgraded my PC and it doesn't run like crap, but I'd still not pre-order anything they're likely to develop in the future simply because of how the initial release of NMS was handled. If I was interested in something new that they're working on, I'd wait until it comes down in price before purchasing. I don't want to be bitten twice.

In fairness the game which they showed those years back was pretty much where they got to with Atlas rises. A lot since then tbh has been a little beyond what I expected from No Man Sky even seeing the original stuff and that is more because every game is overhyped every demo that is given out at these shows etc.

I've just returned to NMS as I've just got a rift s.

Really enjoying it so far but performance can be a bit wonky.

I'm running SS at 1.5 in the oculus tray tool but havent really played around with the in game graphics settings too much. I was wondering if anyone has any recommended settings/tips to enhance performance.

From looking on the internet there seem to be lots of info from when the vr mode was released but is this info still correct or have the issues been patched?

My system: 8700k stock, 16gb ddr4 3000mhz, rtx 2080 stock.

TIA
