No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Multiplayer is purely for shared cloud of saved planet names and animal names that people give things thats it. So basically just meta multiplayer not actual playing together at all. Its been stated loads of times but no one seems to remember some how.

And no its not a sub for multiplayer as there is no multiplayer its a single player only game, just that theres a cloud for as i said ppl naming stuff in the game.

I am sooooo temped to get this. Wanted to wait for a price drop but it looks so damn interesting! Might pre-order then see what the reviews say, can always refund but still take advantage of the 'Horizon Omega' incentive.

Speaking of which, if I go for it I'm hoping/assuming this better ship will still be crashed and in need of repair??

Any word on graphics settings etc yet?

Nope and i wouldnt expect a lot of settings to pick i reckon it will be a pick a res and thats it kinda fare. Happy to be wrong of course but i dont see a lot of choice given its procedural generated along with textures that are generated from what i remember them saying.

Procedural generation doesn't make a jot of difference to the settings available on the PC version, just depends how much time and effort they've been able to invest in it.

Anyone seen the patch notes yet? Can't post them as I'm at work. But flippin' eck!
Galaxies that are 10 times bigger.
Missions that lead to different endings.
The ability to scan for systems discovered by other players which will increase the chance to meet others.
Updated galaxy wide economy.

In upcoming patches:
Base Building
Owning giant freighters.

Maybe, who knows, all i know is you wont be able to change texture res as im sure they said its generated textures so what you see is what you get. They might have shadow options i dont think they would have any lighting options like ssao or the likes. Might have AA and AF or at least it would be nice. Render distance possibly but i have a feeling they wont.

The "Upcoming Patches" sounds interesting! I wonder how long they plan on updating the game for after release...

Seems like they have listened to some of the complaints from the leaked footage and improved things on the last minute. So this may have been a good thing in the end. I'm interested to know how you will land on planets with one of the huge freighters though. Is it going to be like in ED, when you try and land an Anaconda on a 2g+ planet :P

Anyway, I managed to pre-order a copy for £27. Don't ask me how because it was a little bit naughty :D

I was on the fence until I read base building on planets and freighters.....regardless of the journey to the centre, the idea of having your own planet or part of the Universe, where you can create your own BOO and Trade from sounds amazing...looking forward to Friday now.

The best thing they could do in my opinion is allow people to build these starbases and then broadcast their coordinates to others. This in my opinion would be an amazing way to introduce multiplayer interaction.

I know this is very unlikely though.

Could be that you leave the big ship in orbit & use a smaller spaceship to land.

Well
In this patch there is an ability to scan for other peoples discoveries so that sounds like what you want will be available when they add bases in.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think Sean Murray is doing a great sales job though to be honest.

Game devs never do.....they are the polar opposite of the typical salesman style personalities....feel the same when I watch Star Citizen devs.....all awkward arty/creative types.

When I first saw Sean at E3 he was on stage like a bashful schoolgirl it was difficult to watc and possibly put me off as a result

I understand it was just the enormity of the moment getting to him but he almost seemed embarrassed of his teams game.
