No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Exploits – infinite warp cell exploit and rare goods trading exploit among other removed. People using these cheats were ruining the game for themselves, but people are weird and can’t stop themselves ¯\_(シ)_/¯

I knew it was an exploit! People contested otherwise, but it's clear the streamer should not have reached the center in thirty hours.

Next up we’re adding the ability to build bases and own giant space freighters. Temporal AA and my new cloud rendering tech should be coming soon too. It will really change the game again, and enhance it visually.

Definitely hyped now!

The Universe – we changed the rules of the universe generation algorithm. Planets have moved. Environments have changed biomes. Galaxies have altered shape. All to create greater variety earlier. Galaxies are now up to 10x larger.

Sounds like he didnt like people getting to the center so quick cos of the exploit so he made the universe bigger so its longer to get to now even if you use exploits. Sounds a bit overkill for non cheats.

With what they are adding soon kind of gives me the impression the game isnt where they want it to be at time of release which is a shame

It gives me the impression that they're noticing small potential issues and dealing with them just like any other decent game developer would. Adding new bits like this without charging extra as DLC is pretty good too.

Of course its not going to be where they want it to be, they are a small dev team of 15 ish people. You cant make a universe full of cool stuff with just 15 ppl so it will be the bare min, exactly like x games are from egosoft. They give you a universe but barely any content they just want you to fill that yourself except not everyone can and wants scripted and well crafted things instead of a big canvas to play in and just mess about.

Anyone expecting AAA game from them is misguided. At best you will get a generic universe where you mine for resources most of the gameplay with occasional and simplistic flight from planet to planet and meet the odd npc which i bet will all be similar after you have met a few of them.

If you like minecraft then its probs for you, if you rather have a big world of fun stuff like gta then im guessing nope as they dont have the man power to fill it with good stuff.

My opinion only. I mean it looks like it is good for killing time and if it was a tenner id probs try it but not at 39 quid as not worth it, not enough content at all.

Maybe after a few years of content updates and expansion packs it might be worth getting a game of the year version which might have a campaign added or included races with stories you can quest through with them possibly but on release id rather not get it.

TBH I hate defending game dev practicises most of the time, but these guys actually seem to be working on stuff pre launch, which is nice to see.

If this was UBI, going gold and release would probably be 3 hours apart and stuff like these patch notes would be 2 months down the line after release. Can't argue with pre release improvements.

I understand where you coming from-i clocked 1050h in Division and played very extensively Elite and other games,i know what you mean "content is not there" or "game not finished".
BUT - if we,players, dont give chance to smaller devs with good ideas, what we gonna play?EA,Ubi,Blizz,Activision games only? And we gonna pay more for they games, not to mention DLC milking.
Reading patch notes alone makes me want to buy they game tbh

 Great to see them with plans to continue to improve the game. We said it was an exploit, but so many wouldn't believe us! That guy really was a complete tool.

Most of the features will be implemented with the day one patch. Stop being so negative!

I wasnt being negative really? just felt bad for a team that may have wanted more time to implement features into there game but time isnt on there side.

Saying that im sure the game is much more now than they originally intended so swings and roundabouts, was just a thought

Look I'm sure the game will be great and everything but I'm getting sick of the old 'day one patch' excuse being rolled out when they aren't giving out review copies.

You are right, except people are expecting a AAA title because its priced £39.99. Its priced like a AAA title so it will get treat like one. Its amazing what that price difference does to opinion and they just cant have the best of both worlds I'm afraid

Its $60 here

£40 is a hefty investment in a game these days, minus costs of any DLC, so people want to get their money's worth. There is the refund option in Steam but I don't know if 2 hours is long enough to evaluate a game like this. Personally im waiting a little while after release for more reviews

If it gets more than 20 hours of my time it's 100% worth it. As we've already discussed, the cinema for a 2 hour film for me and her already sets me back more than this :)

Agreed. There are those rare gems where you invest 3 digits worth of playtime. Elite Dangerous is such a game for me. Other would say ED is boring and they stopped playing after 2 hours.

If NMS will be such a game for me or not i don't know but if i play it 20 hours I got my money's worth indeed.

Edit: I just read the last page and saw there wont be 21:9 support. Is that confirmed? I'll give it a pass then.
Edit 2: Nvm, they added it. Thank god.
