No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Q: Is PC getting a midnight release?
A: The reality is that we're still here working on it right now. There's no conspiracy, we're just racing to get all the extra options and stuff we want. PS4 comes out tomorrow and we'll just try to pretend it's a normal work day! Best guess right now is 6pm GMT on Friday, but we'll keep you up to date as we get closer.
I'll tell you a funny story about PC. I was here late yesterday, and I had to take a break and do an interview with Playboy (!) - and the guy was like "what are you working on when you go back downstairs?" and I was like "compatibility for ATI opengl drivers", and he said "ummm.... could you make something up. That sounds pretty nerdy". I always knew I wasn't Playboy article material :)

I didn't feel like I did too much mining last night. Initially it's unavoidable, as you need the resources to repair ship. After ship was fixed I just ended up just flying about, looking for points of interest (monuments/outposts/etc), most of those had enough plutonium to keep my launch thruster fuelled.

I'll definitely need to mine a good bit at some point, but happy to just trundle around right now.

I had no issue with £40ish buying it for PS4, but I usually have a £30 limit for PC titles... I'd certainly rather this got my money, than any of the multiplayer only swill that we're being offered from the triple A types.

Think I'm going to wait and see with this one...

Most of the coverage I've seen I'm just waiting for Sean to pull the big rubber mask off his head and turn out to have been Peter Molyneux or Will Wright in disguise the whole time :p

How much of this game involves mining? Do you need to do a lot of it? I was watching a stream for 20 minutes and that's all he did.

My feeling is that this will be like Minecraft where you need to do q.uite a bit of mining / upgrading to get comfortable.

There'll come a point where your gear / ship / gun will make it so that Exploration for the most part will be that, and Extreme planets will be a challenge - which should keep things healthy and interesting.

The most sensible decision and the one I'm going to take as well. With what has been said about the pc version the last few days, I think it's too much of a risk to preorder.

I honestly don't see the issue pre-ordering, especially since Steam now do refunds.

Granted you only get 2 hours of playtime, but that's enough to go through the graphical settings and seeing how well it runs on your own hardware, as well as checking out some of the zones.

I don't think two hours is enough time to know if you will like the game but I suppose you are right in that you would be able find out if it works or not.
