No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

dunno if any of you have read this yet.

Least that has been confirmed.

That is a huge plus for the PC :)

It will be interesting to hear the official line on this as they said it would be possible. I wonder if it has anything to do with the issue surrounding PlayStation plus and sonys control over it.

I am more surprised that they found a planet already discovered by someone else.

Another plus though, we have our own PC server :)

Who knows. They've been sarcastically tweeting about server issues, so maybe something's up.

But I highly doubt it. Why even mention it in the first place and give people a false sense of hope? They should have reached a simple yes/no answer ages ago.

To me, the inclusion of "multiplayer" when brought up in previous interviews was probably just a way to help justify the price tag.

The problem is that Sean clearly stated that you "could" see other players bodies etc, which is obviously now a massive lie.

Also, none of the world's so far look anything like the world's shown of on the trailers, far simpler and generic looking... Hmmm.

I'd still wait for the official line before calling him a liar. The servers were being hammered and player to player uses lobbying (I'll try to find the interview where he explains it - but if you think of games like WOW when launched, instancing goes to pot) and as CaptainRAVE mentioned - one user did not have PSPlus.

Edit - not like this bothers me - I WANT to be alone and I don;t want to see other people - they smell :P

I wish this did have a multiplayer portion but I've gone into it not expecting it so I am not too bothered whether you can see other people or not.

That said I do hope they consider adding it further down the line.

They have never said it was a multiplayer game in the sense of being able to play with others. In fact they've said pretty much the opposite. It's not multiplayer, you can't meet others in game, get over it.

Adding multiplayer to a game like this later would be very difficult to do right, probably too late now. It's never been one, if anything that's part of the appeal for me - I can just do what I like and chill, much like the X series.

I understand that point of view and that's why I can accept that it's a single player game. I don't think the pitchforks and namecalling is necessary.

Yes. Honestly, what else were you expecting? :p

What else were you expecting? It isn't a sim survival game

Also, wasn't that the unpatched review?

Well I was hoping for a game about exploration and discovery not Rust in space as survival games are about as fun as a padded room.

It may not be of course but I'm a little more reserved about it now.

From what I've read from people who have actually played the game, the start is slow and you do have to spend time mining and such but later on you're a lot more free and open to do what you want as you have upgraded everything.

I saw someone discover a
black hole
yesterday, came as a complete surprise, didn't know they were in the game.

I'm quite confident there will be plenty to discover personally.

Sounds like the multiplayer has a similar system to ED. Anyone who played that during the beta knows the amount of problems it had (and still does have) due to being p2p. Sometimes you just don't see players who enter your session, but see others perfectly fine. There's to many variables that can fail to match up with p2p in gaming :/

Watched a few streams last night on Twitch, was tempted to pick it up at the weekend but looks like it'll get very repetitive quickly :(

I actually just went onto the reddit for the first time. It is an absolute mess in there!

I know the internet loves drama but it looks to me like so many people had their next 6 months planned around this game and are now a little burned by something that may be broken/bugged or may be a lie.

At the end of the day it was made very clear that this was not the point of the game and while it is a bit disappointing, it doesn't change the game.
