No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Played for half an hour on PS4....my little 42" LCD at 10ft+ distance is a little hard, text is small.

Now do I get it on PC to play up close on my 30" U3014 high gamut which will really make the colours pop (and have higher FoV, which is a bit pap on PS4)....or buy that 55" OLED TV I've had my eye on....hmm

I'd get it on PC simply for improved FPS, I'm not saying that as snobbish but this is a game that I'd want to look as good as possible especially when I'm chilling out immersing myself in it. ;)

The FPS is fine....doesn't bother me. But the FoV is a bit narrow on PS4, which is a shame when the game is mostly about exploring these big colourful landscapes. Wondering if they'll do a Neo version that'll make things a little better.

Might have to see how Steam streaming works over my wifi....hmm

cant wait to play this on pc, hopefully friday release time will be as early as possible.

im totally ignoring the angry reddits, the day i decide how good a game is by reading the few words of raging console players is the day i pack it all in :) For every negative comment there are 1000's of players enjoying the game.

I dont think sean murray has helped himself though with the vague replies to some of the questions regarding the exact experience people will get but people forget that hes probably limited to what he can reveal prior to release by sony.

cant wait for the start on friday and hopefully experience the way the game changes over the next year or so.

No Man's Sky is developed and published by Hello Games. I think people have the mistaken impression Sony is the publisher, they've probably agreed to do some marketing for them to keep it a console exclusive but it's very unlikely they are in any position of power over what Hello Games can say and do.

My take is that Sean genuinely wanted the game to be something that people explore and figure out for themselves. Not any deliberate obtuseness to try and deceive people.

After watching some videos in more than happy to see what they did and what will do with NMS.
Pessimists?Pfff,its 2016,ignore them,they unfixable.
And im gladly pay for game-so far its exactly what i imagined it will be and seems im gonna love it.
Those who looking for any sort of "doing same gets boring fast ect." will find it in every other game as well.
Cant wait to forget everything around and just enjoy this game

Productive post is productive.

Seriously, care to back that up a bit with you know...opinion, fact, experience?

Sure:

  • My understanding of how the hype was generated with terribly orchestrated 'free play' videos.
  • The notion that having an awesome time on a planet only to have it wiped after you leave is mindboggling pointless
  • Let's meet up in this awesome expansive puddle of a game... Oh wait... You can't
  • Fancy some genericly created creatures, plant life and planets? You've come to the right place! We did it first!! Ummm... Spore anyone?
  • But, but sir, I need to improve my ship, build a base, FIND ARTIFACTS! Sure... Enjoy the next 200 hours hopping from planet to planet finding a different coloured leaf with the same texture as the last 500 planets
  • "It's not multiplayer you half wit! What's your problem?"... Well, you see here scotty, whilst it's not being sold as multipler (which is was at one point right? I'm losing track of the false promises, sorry). The AI is crap, it has basic boundaries of attack, trade or just float around.
  • "You've not played it, so you have no opinion!"... Thank ****, I'd never want to play this peice of crap and I'm being overly hateful as I see people wasting good money on a bad game with terrible devs/marketing. Spend it wisely!

dont ya know its cool to be the edgy guy who dislikes anything that gets a bit of hype.

fun at parties too

I've yet to purchase my hipster badge. :D

Honestly, if you want a MUCH better survival game at a MUCH lower price, there was recently more DLC for Don't Starve... Based on oceans and stuff. Much more fun.

Guess this isn't for you then.

So because you've decided you don't like it, without playing it, you absolutely must force your own opinions on everyone else?

Force? Am I forcing them? It's a forum, I dislike the way this game has been advertised and how it's just a game engine that proceduraly generates balls for you to play on.

As such, I'm expressing that in the thread about said game.

So no, I'm not forcing it lol. I'm expressing my opinion. Just like you lot are with your love for this game.

Indeed, stating something so definitively with no first hand knowledge isn't "just sharing my opinion". However there is a good solution for you:

Ignore the game.
Don't follow it, post in threads or forums about it.
End.

That way we can like what we like in peace and you can like what you like in peace.

Hug? I feel like we should hug.

Edit: for the record, stating your pleasure for something so definitively without first hand knowledge is the exact same thing... Have a think about it lol.
