No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Let's keep it civil please guys. Different opinions are good... you don't have to agree to discuss the game.

mid_gen dont feed him mate, lovely ignore button there :)

Some people are just out to nitpick anything someone says, ill take the opinion over someone playing the game over keyboard warrior.

Back to the PC version

Those graphic settings look nice, i wonder if the "Max FPS" setting is basically just saying unlock the FPS, so maybe it has options like 30, 60, unlimited. Hoping it doesnt mean theres a hard cap on fps for that "cinematic" experience

A big play space (universe in this case) doesn't equal a sandbox.

Tell me about some of the fun, interesting, unusual things you've done..outside of mining, flying, walking, collecting resources.

You can trivialize just about anything, for example, what have you done in Squad that could be construed as interesting, outside of lying prone in the grass, laying down suppressed fire, and completing arbitrary objectives?

See what I did there?

I'm keeping it civil, so i assume that's aimed at the guy trying to insult me with each reply.

Oh please. What a waste of time it is getting involved in some of these threads.

I'm not telling people Squad is a sandbox game where you can do whatever you want.

There's nothing worse than someone who won't concede to anything. You're being obnoxious!

If the game is not to your liking, may I suggest that you go elsewhere? It's akin to attending a Volkswagen enthusiasts club to complain about German engineering. You just don't do it! :p

Well I can't comment for the guy posting the above. But there is combat, space combat, beautiful vistas, upgrade progression, minor story beats and character progression through learning alien dialogue to name a few things that you may class as "fun".

The game is a super non linear survival game, if that doesn't appeal to your then there are 100s of other options to choose from! Elite Dangerous for more action, or Fallout for more structure/story.

NMS sky like most modern indie sandbox survival games is about exploration, progress, understanding and making your own fun.

Obnoxious?! What are you talking about? I'm questioning his statement about this game being a sandbox and you come and defend him with an example relating to Squad. It's just nonsense. I'm not 'trolling' (I mean..seriously).

Perfect timing:

Oh man I loved this game for the first 10 hours and now I'm finding it incredibly boring, there is literally nothing new and nothing different to do.

Doesn't sound very sandboxy to me.

Thank you. :) Finally some examples without being insulted! Who'd have thought.

I guess it just comes down to how much tolerance you have for repetitive actions. I know that some people love grinding in MMO's for example. I could personally not think of anything worse :p Some people will find enjoyment in casual laid back exploration. For others, it might not satisfy their needs.

just seen this, graphic settings

Fingers crossed on proper surround support. I know 4K is all the rage, but I love my 3 screen setup :)

Yeah I kind of have an itch to try this but any amount of grind will kill it dead for me - and sadly it seems to be largely around grind.

Same thing that killed The Division off for me, first 10-15h were alright, after that it was just boring. Never played it since, pre-ordered the season pass too.

I'll be waiting for a few reviews of this over the coming weeks I think before splurging any money on it.

Hm..i have clocked 1100h in Division :)
All such games involve grind-more or less-i like such games

Sadly I'm not pre-ordering etc until I've seen "Worth a buy" and a few others reviews on it, similar reasons to you with past game purchases. Shame that NMS potentially misses out because of the actions of others but it's a game I could enjoy, single player (more or less) so if it's above average I've no doubt I'll buy it at some point anyway :)

Keen to see some actual footage from people I trust though first.
