Don't know if this has been posted, i searched for "korea" but found nothing

A bit worrying considering the way people are reacting to it, WW3 anyone?

The japs saying they will shoot it down, america and south korea backing them, surely if north korea went through with it, even as a test, they will get flattened? (please say yes it'll make me happy :p)

If I were Japan!

Just doing what saddam loved doing, rattling the cage and see how far tehy can push it. One day they'll push that little to hard.

seeing as the rocket will go over Japan, it is no wonder why Japan is taking this as a serious threat.

I don't see any reason to worry about the way people are reacting to it. What's to worry about?

The japs saying they will shoot it down

The Japanese have said no such thing. They've said that plans were being made to shoot down any rocket that threatens to hit the country.

No, they won't get flattened.

You say that, but i can't help but think that north korea want a war

No, they don't want a war. They want a reaction to their threats of war.

Argentina did it in the 80s, as have many nation-states throughout the course of history; when things are so bad at home - give the people some outside force to focus their energies on. In this case it's national pride and through antagonising the West.

People were starving in N. Korea before the recession, not that I think the outside influences them much, but they obviously think they're in a position for more abusive sabre rattling. If N. Korea aren't showing how 'powerful' they are - to both the world and their own people - or antagonising the West, they're very likely to have a revolution on their hands.

At least, in my opinion that is. Whether something will come of this or not is completely unknown. However, I doubt N. Korea are in any position to sustain any form of conflict - short, or long-term.

The difference of course is that in both WW I and WW II both opposing sides were very strong.

if North Korea were to even try and take on the rest of the world as Hitler did, they would be crushed so amusingly quickly it would be untrue. Hitler had charge of military might that could genuinely have be used to take over the world. North Korea just doesnt have it. They have willing sacrificial public and an angry little dictator but thats as far as the similarity between Hitlers Germany and Kim Jong-il's little nation goes.

The problem they have of course is that their masses are brainwashed into genuinely believing they are one of the strongest nations on Earth.

I have no doubt they have some form of reasonable military might and that they could do some damage if they wanted, but for the sake of those they would initially hurt and then for all of the Koreans that would be killed in the devestating retaliation.. I really hope they don't do anything silly...

Well i deem north korea to be incredibly unpreditcable, as well as politicians around the world

It goes over japan, they'll be incredibly edgy if it does fire and if they shoot it down NK have already said that if it is shot down it'll provoke war

No, they won't get flattened.

:(

Means the same thing to me

Apparently, when the missle flies over Japan it will release something - I think this is why Japan is worried...
BBC said:
Pyongyang has already said the rocket taking its satellite into orbit will cross over Japan, dropping booster stages to its east and west.

What's a booster stage? :p

What's a booster stage? :p

As its a 3 stage missile i guess it works in the same (sort of) way that a shuttle going into space does, where it seperates parts, first part burns its fuel then drops off etc

note: i have no knowledge of missile technology, purely guessing :p

No, vertical elevation has no bearing.
How did you come to that conclusion?

Perhaps he's thinking that the systems used to take down the missile requires the heat from the burning fuel on it's way up? and when it comes down it is either free falling or burning a lot less fuel?

Nevermind he was thinkign something else :D

Ah ha! This is probably why Japan thinks it could be an attack. Who knows what they could make "fall" off that thing!
