Glock sent to the back of the grid

By Edd Straw Saturday, July 11th 2009, 15:05 GMT

Timo Glock has been relegated to the back of the grid for tomorrow's German Grand Prix for blocking Fernando Alonso in qualifying.

The Toyota driver was hit with a three-place penalty, albeit costing him only one place on the grid as he qualified 19th, after baulking the Spaniard while distracted by discussing strategy with his pit.

"I had just made a mistake on the lap and I was asking if I had to stay out or come in for new tyres," Glock told AUTOSPORT.

"They said stay out, I accelerated, looked behind me and there was Alonso in the mirror. I just didn't see him."

The German was also given a reprimand for the incident, as it was deemed to be "potentially dangerous" by stewards.

Glock also admitted that he could opt to start from the pit-lane for tomorrow's race.

Havn't seen qualifying yet, waiting for it to be availible on iPlayer. They need to bloody hurry up :p

I dont know any of the results but I caught a tweet from Lee McKenzie on Twitter, which leads me to believe that Webber planted in his car on pole. She will be getting a message if shes spoilt it for me :p

Why are the Ferraris running so heavy, muppets! They are doing exactly what McLaren used to do a few years back, how long does it take to learn starting below 5th on the grid isn't usually going to get you close to the podium!!!!

I hope Kova can get in front of Vettel at the start and stay there, with the heavier fuel load and KERS that practically takes Vettel out of the game. Lewis just needs to mix it up at the front and enjoy having a heavier car than the Brawns! Game on! :D

Brawn are in serious trouble running that light. By far the lightest cars on the grid. God thats depressing.

It's all going wrong for Brawn at the minute with pace. I desperately want a hot race again to see if they have lost the plot in comparison to red bull and a few others.

Yep another damage limitation for jenson. Best hope is to finish ahead of rubens and hope Vettel breaks down. Give Red Bull something to ponder if Mark is ahead of vettel on points.
