Nvidia 30X0 series waterblocks

I've that Bykski block on the way. Think mine comes without the 3090 writing on it but we'll see.

Also our Chinese friends now appear to charge UK VAT at checkout as of the 31st Dec so no more dodging duties........

Installed my 3090 FE Corsair block yesterday. It's my first experience watercooling, and to say I'm impressed is an understatement. I was nervous the rear VRAM wasn't going to get sufficiently cooled, but the backplate is noticeably cooler than with the stock setup (calibrated finger thinks 40 degrees or so, whereas before I couldn't hold my finger on it). I do have an Mp5works cooler ready to fit but I don't think it's needed at all.

The stock paste and pads were haphazardly installed to say the least!

As an aside, I swear CP2077 is markedly more stable and less glitchy. Might just be the placebo affect.

There is something intangible (or is it tangible lol) with a watercooled graphics card that maintains clocks much more reliably than an air cooled card.

It gives the system a running on rails feeling. To me this makes sense, stable clocks equals stable performance.

Chomping at the bit here the FTW3 she's a hot monster and not exactly quiet

Edited from initial negative comment:

3090 FE with Alphacool Eisblock in my system.

Cooling is great, 3 degrees above ambient.

I had an issue with the fact that there is no IO shield provided and no mention of how to attach the IO shield from the stock cooler with all the diagrams showing it attached to the PCB when that is not the case for the FE.

I have been in touch with their support team and there is a way to attach the IO shield except they neglected to mention it in the manual. You have to place it under the backplate and the backplate screwholes line up with the IO shield ones allowing it to be wedged between the pcb and the backplate.

I installed an alphacool 3090 FE waterblock today. I would discourage anyone from buying one of these right now as they have a huge design oversight that I didn't realise until I assembled it.... No IO shield so no way to secure it to the case. They have assumed that the pcb has one attached and on the founders the IO shield is a part of the cooler itself. I've had to wedge the card upright using tissue paper and luckily I have a case where my MB is horizontal. Their customer service isn't open on the weekend so I'll have to wait until monday to complain. They must have designed this without an actual card in hand. I don't know how this got approved and shipped to customers!

Aside from that the cooling is great, I'm getting 2 degrees above ambient on idle.

:( I actually E-mailed then few weeks back asking about I/O plate as EK block seems to be AFK and alphacool was going to be in stock. Need a two slot I/O plate to Watercool, but never had a response. Seems Alphacool block is no longer available in terms of dates now anyways so maby they picked up on this design oversight.

The GPX cooler looks good and feels very solid. Very clean lines (reminds me of a large VHS tape) Fitting was easy, with good contact and no leaks first time. Temps are low. The only bad thing was the purchase experience.
I see that you previously used the barrow gpu block, how was it? I cant find that much info on barrows GPU blocks anywhere.. Im looking for a block for my Ventus 3080 and the alphacool one just got pushed to 60-120 days delivery.

Barrow block was very good, no issues.

I think that is why EK have delayed to be honest as they were likely waiting to get physical FE cards in hand in order to check their design tolerances etc. I remember seeing a shout out on Facebook in October/November asking for customers to send them FE cards for R&D.

As much as I am getting fed up waiting for an EK 3090 FE block to finish my custom loop, I am fairly confident that when I eventually do get it, it will work and fit 100% and that is worth the extra cash and time for me.

Well that's one way to take out the indecision :p

In two minds build is all black and silver anyways so two minds. went for black in the end. Now just a month and half to wait :o

Just out of interest, are you guys using the thermal paste that comes with the waterblocks or are you using something like Thermal Grizzly?

I never use the paste that comes with it as it's never labeled so that makes it a bit of an unknown. I've used Alphacool Subzero this time.

Finally, got a preorder in for the EK 3090fe block.
Still feel a bit salty that it will have been 5 months of waiting of which I wouldn't have done if the carrot "we should be launching this month", wasn't repeated since early October. But then again it is such a nice looking block I may have been all in from the start :D

My last two EK blocks came with a small tube of Thermal Grizzly.

I'd read elsewhere that EK had started putting Thermal Grizzly in their water block packaging but both my monoblock and FE water block came with EK's own ecotherm TIM.

Yes all my recent blocks from EK including ones few weeks back came with Ecotherm, had opened tube of thermal grizzly so just used that.

Will be interesting to see now left EU what the total price of the 3090 Block will be in hand. £270 for block as is from site, then add VAT when it lands in UK and handling fees, think it will total around £340 ish all said and done. So nearly a 3060Ti GPU :p:o
