NVIDIA 4000 Series

Extra ram needs extra power, that extra 2 or 3 watts that was going to core is now going to vram and has slight drop of clocks to core im guessing
Sounds like we need Nvidia to start talking even more about power consumption / energy efficiency, that's the real reason I'm here.

Lisa Su says the AI market is huge and there is a $150 billion to be made in the next 5 years in hardware sales

Nvidia's share price up on the kind words from Lisa. Everytime she talks up AI, Jensen gets a bonus

It would be interesting to know what the TAM is for pc gaming over the same timeframe but I'm guessing it's a fraction of that! This further validates that both companies have lost interest in gaming. They have better markets to exploit.

TPU power draw is measured using Cyberpunk 2077:
  • Gaming: Cyberpunk 2077 is running at 3840x2160 with Ultra settings and ray tracing disabled. Textures are set to "low," to ensure that cards with 4 GB and 6 GB aren't handicapped due to their VRAM size. We ensure the card is heated up properly, which ensures a steady-state result instead of short-term numbers that won't hold up in long-term usage.
  • Ray tracing: Cyberpunk 2077 is running at 3840x2160 with Ultra settings and ray tracing enabled. Textures are set to "low," to reduce memory pressure on cards with lower VRAM size.
The problem he has gone through three...maybe four cards because of issues:
1.)RX6800(some issue)
2.)RTX3080
3.)RTX3080TI(earlier post - too much heat)
4.)RX7900XT(too much heat)

The RX7900XT is between the RTX3080TI and RX6800. The RTX4080 from the very accurate TPU testing is 304W.Plus he limited his RX7900XT to 285W. So how is an RTX4070TI going to solve the heat issues he has,if he has gone through so many cards?

That means maybe the RTX4070 as you said?

I literally said he should go for something lower end,and he got all defensive:

@tommybhoy You have had an RTX3080,RTX4070 and RX7900XT/RX7900XTX? Maybe you can chime in as a data point?
Because if I Power limit 4070ti -10% (like I did with 7900xt) I can get around 250w gpu.. People on Cro forums claim that got much coler card after doing that

Wonder if the rumours that they wouldn't release anything else until at least 2025 boosted sales?

More likely they've just not refreshed the stock in ages though.

They’ll release the next ones on their usual 2 year cycle I’m sure. Not to say that the rumours haven’t helped sales though!

Both vendors confirmed they have reduced manufacturing - you know that want to keep prices high

What an odd thing to do, instead of dropping prices to increase sales ( i mean literally it would fly off the shelves ), they rather have trickle sales, have upset investors and damage their own reputation.

Is nvidia truly a lost cause to gamers?

I was also thinking it maybe something to do with how it's addressing 16GB over a bus intended for 8GB, maybe there's a small latency hit due to it having to address two 8GB memory spaces rather than one but I'll admit IDK enough about how GPU memory access works to know one one or the other.

Tbf I quite like it, good entertainment for the forum with all the wailing moaning and much gnashing of teeth :D
