NVIDIA 4000 Series

You know, Nvidia could have avoided all the ill feeling directed towards them if they'd just released this 4070Ti Super as the new 4080, at this price, when the cards originally launched.

It wouldn't have looked a bad card for the price back then, a modest upgrade over the 3080 in raster, nearly double in RT, big increase in VRAM, plus all the other features for a relatively modest £100 increase to the MSRP of the 3080.

theres nothing to entice me this gen on the NVidia side, only card that would get me reaching into my pocket would be the 7900xt, but only at around 650, its $710 in usa, which equates to around 650ish i guess

Considering the 4000 series other than the 4090 has seen either a negative or single figure price to performance increase over the 3000 then I can’t see how the 5000 could be any worse unless they further jack prices again on card tiers that already haven’t been selling.

Its a terrible card even if it had launched a year ago, 21% more raster than a 3080 and 35% more RT not sure where your getting double from? for 18% more money.

Including the 4090, unless you're just comparing it to the 3090 which was an anomoly in price to performance.

Yeh but this is Nvidia we're talking about.

If anyone could do a worse release than the 4 series, they can.

I make an exception for the 4090 as it is the only card to actually deliver a true next gen gaming experience, all the rest were barely faster than last gen despite significantly higher pricing.

Yeah it had a performance increase, but not a price to performance increase over the 3000 series as you said. The RTX 3080 was supposed to be the flagship GPU of the 3000 series and the 3090 for professional workloads. With the 4000 series they switched it up by making the 4090 the flagship GPU and skipping the professional card entirely. Comparing flagship to flagship the 4090 had a price to performance decrease over the 3000 series equivalent.
