NVIDIA 4000 Series

Yup, we went from 649 for an 3080 series to 1200 for a 4080, it's a **** take. Though it's interesting how the 2080ti was a grand then the 3080 came in at a much lower in price. So maybe the prices will continue to bounce around on occasion.

2080 Ti was Jensens pricing test, Due to it selling moderately well is the reason we now have £1500 GPU's. He saw people will pay literally anything for top end performance.

Id argue titan cards were price testing long before rtx ever became a thing. Plus the pandemic and gpu shortage didn't help matters with mostly miners grabbing cards for almost any price they could get them, which again made nvidia look at just how far they could gouge the pricing.

Titan cards were always low volume and from Nvidia only, I think it was the 2080 Ti that was Jensens first testing of the waters for a "mainstream" card.

There is no chance in hell a 5080 comes in at around £800, let's just get that dream out the way already :p

A 4070 Ti Super is that price currently for starters

Yeah. Not really expecting to to be fair. I will just see what £600-£800 buys. If price for performance has not moved on by much I will just keep what I have until an opportunity presents its self. It always does eventually :D

Titans (originally) could be got from any vendor really, but the cooler had to remain the same, it was with pascal titan on they remained nvidia only, regardless it was their first test of a 'grand' gpu and seeing how far people were willing to take the shaft.

You'll jjust end up buying a 4090 when they are £1000 remember, not next year but maybe the year after :p

No chance I would pay that even next year for a uses 4090 tbh.
:D

But in 2023 you said
If I knew I could get a 4090 from members market for £1300 and still sell it for over £1000 in 2 years time, I would be somewhat tempted, but that just does not seem realistic. They will be selling under £1000 in 2025.

And remember when you said I would barely get £600 for my 3080 Ti? - I actually sold it for £725
I would still go 4090. I just don't see the point in going 4080 at £1200. Or even £1000 in your case. I mean sure if you can get £750 for your 3080 Ti, but let's be honest you will get £600 tops.

So far with pricing I've been more accurate... So far :p

But where in the quote I made did I say I would pay £1000? İ stick by that quote. But has nothing to do with what I would pay for one.

As for your pricing. You did do very well to be fair. You sold at the right time. Had you waited a few more months you would not have got anywhere near that. Even on ebay :D

Yeah you said you'd get one for £1300 and then sell it some time later for £1000 :p

Joker. Why are you twisting it. Point was I would be happy to essentially rent a 4090 for £300 over two years. That is what was meant.

I would also pay 2K for one if I knew for sure I could get £1700 2 years later. Hope that makes sense. Not about the money. I just can't stand the depreciation being stupid amounts.

Lookt at poor 3090 owners for example! What makes it worse is they are still waiting for that 24GB to come in handy. And when it does they don't have the grunt required anyway :p
