NVIDIA 4000 Series

Noticed the 4090 is £1519. Is that up from £1499? I can't remember what it was before.

edit: Down from £1579, although the drop happened ages ago. I just didn't know, probably because I never saw it in stock.

Anyone here remember the forum member @Gregster that used to post on here a lot ?
Sure i remember he used to post his own reviews of some his hardware

Just wondering what happened to him, If he just lost interest in this hobby like a lot of us do from time to time over the years.

I remember him very well. He had one of the greenest shades here. I also purchased his GTX 1080 :)

Had a lot of bants with him, but he just does not engage no more.

My theory is as he still has a 2080 Ti and just lost interest as he used to love the shiny new cards. He went the way of Boomstick probably. But if he does grab a 5090 or something he will be back :D

Anyone remember boomstick used to get the latest card always? Not anymore

One has to pace themselves. Stick to mid range or grab high end when a deal comes along and you can have one or more cards every gen. I do not spend half as much as some in here do. I am still using the profits of my 3080 sale to CEX on GPU's :p:D

Am really pleased i got my RTX4090 was having a good play through of Quake 2 RTX last night  :cry:
Also had a quick play of Crysis yesterday, Maybe it just me but i found the Graphics in it are now started to look pretty dated at last

   To think the Crysis game will be 20 years old in only another 3 years :eek::eek:

As I got bored of Starfield last weekend, I also reinstalled Crysis after many, many years to see how it ran/looked on my RTX4090 but unfortunately it just give me a brief black screen then back to desktop. Tried all fixes I could find ont t'internet to get it going but to no avail :(

I can remember the name really well, But can't remember much else :o

Well..

Right now I'm running an RTX 4070 Ti Super with i7 14700F and an Intel ARC A770 with an AMD 7900X. Both lovely systems. My Intel PC with RTX is my daily driver and the AMD plus Intel GPU is used for work and occasional gaming.

The top end cards are too expensive now imo, no fun in pushing systems to beat benchy's like the old days, with custom mods and what not. It just seems to be about who can spend the most money now.

Agreed. Used to love benching back in the day even if I did not have the best hardware. These days I do a quick bench here and there to compare with old cards and see if the cards is performing as it should and that's about it.

More fun undervolting these days.

Am sure I was getting that some years back when I first had my 2080ti.

But I can’t remember what I did to fix it

Here's a question. How many are using cablemod 12vhpwr cables for their gpus still? I ask because after the adapter recall I pulled the cables from my system to be safe. However as a result my build just looks messy using Nvidia octopus adapter. The cable I was using from cablemod was a replacement one as the first one have me black screen. It worked perfectly, would it be safe to use again?

Don't use it just to be on the safe side.

Have you tried this one

Open the game folder , then find a folder named Bin64 in it .
After you open the Bin64 folder find the game in there and open it
(Open Crysis not Crysis64 as seen in the attached file).

If you want to create a shortcut on your desktop to open your game faster follow the steps below :

1. Right click on your desktop.
2. Click New and choose Shortcut.
3. Once you choose Shortcut a window will appear.
4. Click Browse...
5. Now go in the game folder , find the Bin64 folder in it and find Crysis (Not Crysis64).
6. Finally name it whatever you want.

Hopefully this works for you . Hope i helped you
Standard smile
.

Good luck!

Got my 4090 for sale at the moment, waiting to see if I get an offer I want :P I've seen the price trend downwards since January, by about 300 on average. I guess there's enough supply out there now, so people are looking for better deals at the moment.

What I'll replace it with (should it get sold at any moment or not at all) I haven't decided on yet.

People who hold out may actually end up getting a good deal as well though, if supply of the 4090 suddenly dries up, and then it's a sellers market again.

So I do have that in mind also. May be worth just taking the extra loss if it happens and keep the performance I have until "official details drop the next fomo toy"

Not if, will. Nvidia have already confirmed to industry that 40 series stock will be reduced to get sales of the 50 series up.

Then the 5000 series will be out and the price will plummet

You was saying it won't go 3 figures, but already seen some sell for close to 3 figures. In 1 years time 3 figures almost for sure.

Only way that does not happen is if next gen is a turd or offers worse price for performance.
