NVIDIA 4000 Series

That's the impression I'm getting, worst thing is I haven't used my 4090 much, feels like a waste.
yea same here, barely really used mine because there's been barely any good games since it came out.
only reason I would remotely consider a 5090 is it they have 0 coil whine across brands.

I can't think of any games coming out that even warrant a GPU upgrade, GTA6 maybe, but by then the 6090 will probably be close

I assume you void your warranty doing that?
Google claims changing a GPU's thermal paste doesn't void anything, unless you damage the card.

Am I missing something here?

Or is this just a case where people with money just buy it because they can?

You have hardly used your card because there's no good games. But you find the coil whine annoying but you never really hear it because you hardly use it. But you will happily consider dropping £2000(if rumours are true) on a 5090 to eliminate a problem that you don't really experience because you barely used it in the first place, so you would actively consider spending £2000 on a card that by your own admission you would barely use fixing a problem that's not really a problem because for something to be a problem you need to be using it. What's the point on fixing the coil whine if you don't use the thing in the first place? Are you 100% it even has coil whine? Could it be that you just have Tinnitus because how can that be a problem if you're not using it to hear it in the first place?

Am I completely missing something here or am I just really that out of touch with the GPU market these days?

Mans looking at spending £2000 on a night light.

as in thats the only thing I expect it to really offer anyone like me who games at 3440x1440 or lower.
and it's not really offering me much as my case is on the floor, it just bothers me knowing an expensive card does that.
I can't think of any other benefits it could have, no one is bringing out games that push graphics.

AMD isn't competing with Nvidia at the high end, so nvidia doesn't need to pay devs to put in nvidia specific features like in the past.

Is there much of a difference between the 4070 Super and Ti Super? I'm leaning towards the former as my next upgrade from the 3060 TI, the 4070 TI Super seems like £200+ extra for just a 5-10% gain in performance.

I want to play mostly at 4k (I guess this is 1440p with DLSS active). 4080 Super looks good but maybe I spot a deal during Black Friday, price is a more than I am aiming to pay.

Indeed, the fact is we are soft locked by whatever the current console generation is. Game devs need to ensure a AAA game plays properly on both the PS5 and Xbox.

You'll definitely want 4070 Ti Super for the 16 GB of Vram because at 4K you can easily run out of it, particularly with frame gen on (which is the key selling feature of the series).

As above, buying a 12GB card for 4K would be madness at this point. The 4070 Ti Super's selling point is the VRAM, not the performance uplift. That said, I wouldn't pay £200+ extra for one. There are regular enough deals on them at ~£650 if you keep an eye out. A few months back you could get one for under £600 with an Asus cashback promotion.

Woah, that's mad. Looking for a good deal so hopefully sometyhing comes during Black Friday.

Yeah 4070 TI Super is the way, unless I see something significant on the 4080 Super.

I always thought these cards use a ton of power, but I just got a UPS and my whole pc only pulls 450-480watts playing cyberpunk 2077

Seems my pc idles around 70 watts, and booting/loading windows is anywhere from 100-200 with maybe the odd spike to around 220., which I guess makes sense when my CPU is 125watts
