NVIDIA 4000 Series

I've had many, many GPUs over the last several years. I build PCs for friends and family and for fun. I had a ROG Strix 3090, an FE 3090, a Palit, and an MSI Ventus. The Ventus was the best overclocker and the one with the lowest temps in testing. The Strix could go to higher wattages, but doing so it would basically **** the bed.

I don't personally believe the more premium AIBs are worth the extra money. Short of binned Kingpin-like stuff it's highly questionable whether you'll get any better performance or temps.

I always buy a premium AIB card, Sapphire Nitro+ or Powercolour Red Devil for example - are they really worth the extra? nah I don't think so, but them I couldn't go back to having like a noisy or hot card...

Spoiled.

Gibbo should stick the Strix up at £3k, it'd still prob all go within a day...

I bloody would!!! :D
considering people were happy to pay £3000 for a 3090 Strix unfortunately i would have to agree with you and can see them still selling at that price
I am sure quite a few people on here will be getting a 4090 but I was specifically talking about a Strix. I am getting an FE at £1679 plus a £200 water block. Even I wont touch the Strix this time despite owning a 3090 Strix. I only got that cause it was cheaper than any other 3090 at the time I was buying (FE excluded)

I think the Asus Strix prices are locked in now as they were paid for when the pound was at its lowest.
Exactly what i am doing getting the FE and EK WB:D , yep can't see that Strix price coming down even if the pound recovers ... i can see it going up still for sure:cry:

I'm really bad with being impatient and wanting things. I think I'm going to go for a FE first, I have a 3090 FE currently and I just really like the look and design of the card. If I can't get a FE which I don't think I will be able to then I need to decide my order of cards I go for and ultimately if they all sell out before I get to it I'll just have to get a strix, although as much as I want one I do begrudge spending that much.

Yeah I've heard hot and cold reviews from people regarding the 3090 Strix. Some people said it beat every other AIB card they tried, some said it was bang average.

You'd think, given the premium/tax that ASUS demand, they would guarantee top of the line silicon samples (this goes doubly so considering their RMA process is utterly w*nk, so I've heard).

With the last gen of Nivida cards, some premium AIB cards were noisier and hotter than the vanilla cards.

Yeah, but pay is better. Swings and roundabouts.
No pay in Ireland is significantly lower than UK.
The scandinavian countries have far higher income tax rates so lower take home pay.
Overall pay & taxes are OK in the UK compared to other european countries. Better in the US but then you have to pay for health care separately.

Pay in the UK in general is pretty crap, so many of my friends have moved abroad to do the same job for a big chunk more

Nvidia get first dibs on the dies and will keep the best ones for themselves IE the founders cards.
