NVIDIA 4000 Series

Some AIBs at £3k a pop though. Imagine spending £3k on something that will be worth £500 in 18 months.
It gets better, I checked on stockx and people sell AIB cards there for over £4k now! Quite a few scalpers there. Some have 8+ cards waiting to be sold - much more than on eBay.

@mrk are you sticking with that UWD Dell for now, or are you intending to change to 4K
If Dell do a 4K version at around 38" ultrawide then I will almost certainly upgrade as it will improve my productivity needs (not bothered about it for 4K gaming as fine 3440x1440 more than ample). I like Dell's colour calibration and the creator mode is pretty much perfect for what I do so want to retain that consistency really. I doubt they will do such a model for a while yet so will keep this for as long as it takes.

Let me know what you settle on in the end :p
Right now I have chnaged nothing and will keep it that way! Came to the conclusion that it was a worthwhile exercise to learn about it in greater detail, and when I start to see the need to enable a few of them, will then go about doing so. I suspect this will only come about when I next upgrade GPU however as the 3080 Ti isn't going to be pushing frames beyond my refresh rate anyway with the latest games all using RT features and stuff so I won't be seeing any tearing in new titles anyway. I have now pretty much played all the older games that would have so no desire to play those again.

Based on the fact I could have bought a 4090 AIB over an hour after release makes me hope that the scalpers are going to get burnt this time.....

Maybe the economy being screwed and the 'hate' for the 3xxx scalpers/miners are making people a bit more sensible this time lol

I noticed on mine the backplate has some residue gunk on it that only shows up under a bright light

Looks clean
jPoDBK3.jpg

How it really looks under the flash of a camera
hVDbnAZ.jpg

The whole backplate was covered in a plastic layer, then the square patch over the diamond LED was a separate protective patch underneath.

so anyone getting a Suprim X might wanna clean the backplate before they install the card.

Another comparrison of it vs a tiny 980ti lol

It almost makes the Noctua D15 seem like it's not monumental in size.

Fills my case nicely though

Does the 4090 Suprim need the sag bracket?

Im curious to see is it sturdy enough without it?

I think you mean 1ms and 2ms.

Telling the difference between 10ms (100fps) and 20ms (50fps) is very easy and clear.
You talking about framerate not response time.

For me if e.g. I am playing a game at 60fps which is 16.7ms per frame, and something happens 2 frames worth of time later due to higher input/display latency, I am not going to notice it any differently.

On the subject of framerates I also personally see no benefit to playing at 120fps or even 90fps, 60fps is smooth enough easily, and in some games I prefer 30 because of the immersion effect. The same way how it feels weird to watch a movie at 60fps.

Nvidia had to significantly slow down their 500fps promotional video, and even a bunch of FPS players were admitting its all gone too far on that video. :)

The bracket came with the card
uEmFfhg.jpg

If I set the bracket height to support the card I can slide it in and out and the GPU only sags maybe 1-2mm
it takes 0 force to get it back under the card, I don't think it's really needed.

There was a mouse matt int he box too

Normal small size one though so I'll never use it but it has some weight to it and seems good quality.
should be for the price the card cost though

Sorry if it's been mentioned. But what in the F is going on here. 50%+ raster performance uplift between 4090 and 4080 16GB. That card should be sub €1000 then. They have it ass about face. You pay a premium for the uber elite tier. You know, that extra 15-20% max for d!ck swinging idiot with more money then sense. You don't sell us half the card for 3/4 the price. Zero value in either 4080. Nvidia basically telling 3000 series owners drop 2k+ on a 4090 or get screwed!

Haha 4090 is the only card worth buying

I misunderstood; I thought you ordered a 4090 hence me asking. You may have seen my post in the Dell thread, now I am 'worrying' if the monitor is enough or if I should use a 4K120, like you I'd prefer 34-38 size. Let's face it, this card for 2K UWD isn't really doing it justice, although I guess if it doesn't break a sweat then it will be quiet which is a bonus.

You could have best of both worlds if you are able to use the c2 as a monitor. 42 inch 4k120 16:9 or switch to 21:9 mode for the 4k uw experience at around 38 inch

Quite an interesting video from Jay2cent, from his finding he is saying an increased power limit ( 600w ) does nothing at all as the cards are voltage limited not power limited ... also performance uplift with the Strix vs FE 1 to 2 fps for £700

Techpowerup has reviewed a bunch of AIB cards and has them compared with the FE

Essentially the only thing you get by buying AIB is quieter fans and lower temps, there is zero extra performance. Maybe this is why EvGA quit - all 4090 models have the same performance no matter how much work the AIB put in

Brain is able to adjust to many things. When I was able to reach 30FPS max back in the day, it felt right to me. Now I can't stand it. Then I had 60FPS and it felt almost too smooth but now it feels jarring as brain got used to seeing 90FPS smoothens and refuse to cooperate with 60. :) It's not instant, takes few days but then you feel like you can't go back to the previous state anymore. That said, I wouldn't compare it to soap opera effect, as that one is done by fake frames which cause lots of visual artefacts and have horrible frame pacing - it's really uncomfortable to watch it. However, proper frame pacing and high refresh rate on a computer is very different and feels much better.

That said agreed on the input latency - best human reaction ever recorded is 13ms and that's for visual stimulus. Input lag of 10ms difference is below that threshold and there's no human alive that would be able to notice that difference. However, difference of 20ms and higher can be felt by best trained and young e-sport players I reckon.

Funnily enough I got the C2 with this intention as it was quite 'cheap' at Costco. I just think there are a few things that will bug me like the brightness thingy changing. I have a 55 CX I could mount and then pull my desk back but again, same issue.

Need to figure out how far back I'd need to move me desk, it's a fairly standard 80cm deep, 1.4m width. The CX is 1.2m, and my speakers are on stands now so it could work..

How long was it until the 3090Ti FE models became obtainable? I've read they like to put them in stock at 2 am every now and again which only scalpers will get. Im only looking for a an FE this time as I Pre ordered an FE water block thinking this year they got their **** together.
At least when a new iPhone comes out you know you can get one, but it seems these things are as hard to get as winning the lottery.

This makes me feel so much better about buying the Strix OC
