NVIDIA 4000 Series

... But why??
Whats the plan with 3 of them?
SLI...

Ohh wait no NVLINK this time...

Guessing has 3 systems or planning to scalp a couple...? who knows why one person would need three, two I could understand if they could be NVLINKED even without NVLINK 2 could be put to use in a single system for certain tasks but 3 naaah not with the size of these cards.

1. Upstairs
2. Downstairs
3. Dubai

I don't need the other 3 til January, so they can wait... building 2 motion sim rigs and 2 gaming rigs for the new office. Will go pre-built for them.

The whole world.

All I play is msfs on my pc, in vr got the inno3d ichill. Can't wait to turn some settings up higher on my reverb g2.
It'll be coupled with a 12700k@5p 4p & 32gb ram. Christmas Day for me tomorrow.

It's just awesome for plane geeks like me.

the whole planet
in real time
real weather
real airtraffic control (if connected, no messing around)
You can fly from UK to paris in a airline, jet, propeller, fighter jet at mach speeds, fly to the alps and himalayas, take u about the same time as a real flight
download enhanced version of cities such as London

Its truly a masterpiece, very relaxing and very mesmerizing to play.

oh and do it on easy arcade mode to the real plane simulator mode.

I'll bet it's amazing with a premium flight stick and VR.

Someone got DLSS 3 working ona 2070 and is testing it out on a 3080 - He's doubled his 2070 framerate supposedly - Says he has "connections" and it was a matter of tricking the game/driver in matching the VRAM reqs so it matches up with what's expected for the frame gen toggle to actually do something: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/y1gx4s/comment/irxa6s8/?context=3

Interesting.

They did say that the hardware was present on older generations but just not good/fast enough to do DLSS3 properly. It will be interesting to see how this progresses.

He says he enabled DLSS3 Frame Generation and then he says its causing stuttering.

So Nvidia was right, older RTX cards can't handle it?

Could well be, as that's exactly what nvidia said.
But it could be the crude hack to get it going wasn't quite right, it could be not enough VRAM on the 2070 at 8GB? Bunch of options at present. That thread has results from him using a 2070, perhaps there might be better results with the 3080 they're trying next...

It could be the case after testing that nvidia couldn't get it perfect on older cards, but some games might benefit while others show issues? Who knows. It's an interesting experiment anyway.

So even though it no longer matters, word is that mining sucks on the 4090, it's hash rates aren't much better than the 3090, not a big surprise given it's using basically the same memory but yeah even if GPU mining was still a thing, miners would not be buying the 4090

Get it bought. Be a massive jump over the 2080 assuming that is your current card? MSFS is going to be one of the first games to use DLSS 3.0.

The 3080 was 120-160% faster than a 2080 super. And a 4090 is twice as fast as a 3080. Then there be DLSS 3.0. Ray tracing performance was staggering also.

I dont reckon they make that much on pre-builts - so if building isn't really part of the PC that you enjoy - then get a pre built. Treat yerself.

You can only wear one watch at a time (unless your name is Gok) so get it bought lad. Worked hard to earn that much.

Maybe a nice 42 inch OLED to go with that sir?
I have 3 55 inch oleds in a triple monitor setup. Wouldn’t want a 42.

Watches don’t depreciate , they appreciate over time hence why I’d rather get one.

But yeah.. I think I will pull the trigger. Just see no point rushing into it. The pre built is coming out to around 4.5k with a 13900k. Sound about right ?

So what happens now? We wait to be able to buy a 4090 by which time we might as well wait for 5090 and so this merry go round goes on. Yesterday was a joke.
I think you are panicking and over reacting if you think the shortage for the 4090 is going to be that crazy. I’m sure they will be in stock soon, especially once the lower tier cards drop and scalpers return their in-sold cards to retailers within the return period.
