Been refreshing and checking all weekend but still no chance of grabbing an FE, guess will have to a while longer

Which opens up an interesting topic, the progress being made by GPU's vs CPU's.
I remember Jenson stating someday GPU's will do the job of CPU's so a CPU won't be required in future. Given the size of the 4090 it's already probably the largest item in a PC case

I mean we have already got to the stage where you are mounting a motherboard onto a GPU, not the other way round.

Watching this whole stock fiasco being drip fed by Nvidia is allowing scalpers to take advantage again. This will never end, i feel like the days of gpu's being an item you would look forward to buying is gone. It now feels more like a chore and especially the price you have to pay, doesn't give you the same feeling i once had when i unpacked a shiny new gpu.

It's a real shame what's happening to the pc market.

Just like the new direct storage API announced by Microsoft last week version 1.1 will run entirely off the GPU rather than through the CPU making load times faster than in version 1.0

I'm thinking 4080 release might be the next drop, hoping not, hitting F5 on every device every time I go near the internet is driving me insane.

Yeah, it's ruining the experience for people, it's simply runaway greed. Even the committed Nvidians aren't really defending their beloved corp this time round. And of course if it's a **** experience for the day 1 Lemmings then that filters down and has a negative effect on everyone who buys mid-range and those who buy entry-level cards.

GPU's don't go on sale any more they go on auction, where the most desperate fight each other tfor the priveledge of being robbed blind. Watch the peasant fight over the crumbs...

This is exactly what im talking about, not only do you have to part with 1300-1700£ of your hard earned cash but you have to fight for it. Really takes away from the joys of buying new items. You just feel drained and anxious constantly, it's not healthy.

I know had the same fight to get a 3090, took me a whole month in the end to try and give them £1400, here I am again, trying to give them even more and they won't take it from me. Hate the fact I love this.

I guess some love the thrill of it but personally i could do without the anxiety of not knowing when stock will arrive and then not knowing if i'll get one. Not that it matters as the price has put me off, i'd rather throw £2k at the mortgage to relieve the stress of remortgaging next year.

Nvidia is offering a product with the performance I have been waiting for to max-out my VR driving sims, so I am willing to open my wallet. However, there are a couple things keeping me from getting too anxious. My current equipment runs my sims well in the vast majority of circumstance and, since I'm only shopping for more raster performance, there's a good chance AMD could make a better offer soon.

So new 1000w PSU has arrived but sadly the board is still dead. looks like the MB has **** itself. Have a new one arriving later today, hopefully it didn't take the 10900k with it
