NVIDIA 4000 Series

no GPU has even been damaged by it yet and if you got a psu with a native connector anyway you would have no issue.

unless it's a bequiet one apparently
What's this story about be quiet?

Is there some issue with their 12VHPWR cable or their new PSU's?

Had a quick look on Dr Google but see nothing?!

Interested as I'll be looking to get the cable from my Dark Power 12 1000W.

@pete910 @JediFragger @Ayahuasca bugger off this is for OP.

I see Steve failed as well to get it to melt. Not a single YouTuber has managed to get it to melt no matter how aggressive the bend or over the top the test.

well he did seem to think there was more than one version of the cables and the five he'd got where from the 'good' version. a bit of the video was him appealing for peeps to send in their charred cables, hopefully a few people will do so.

I only ordered on the 27th October, It doesn't tell you the estimate in the order status page of your account but if you go to their support page there is an order tracker separate to your account where you can input your order number and email address and it gives you an estimated ship date.

It might not even be accurate this estimate for all we know, It could be sooner or even later by the looks of things.

Just to add, Nvidia in only their way possible has created a panic buy of cables lol.
Thanks,

Mine has shown Nov 16th estimate too
Ordered before the panick buying also. Should have paid the extra to expedite it.

£1450.....................................................£1450.......?

Are you ******* serious Nvidia?!

It's not even about having the money or not, £1450 for a 4080 is a frigging insane price, I've purchased cards previously at launch and normally go for the xx80 range, i'm happy to drop £700-£800 max on a card.

But ******* £1450 for not even the top tier card is insanity, you got to be mentally deranged to pay that and not think its a waste of money.

You can buy a PS5, an Xbox Series X and an OLED Switch and still have £200 left over for games for the price your paying for a 4080 - Based on this alone, someone argue to me how it's better to get a 4080 over all new consoles at once?

Do we dare even contemplate what price Overclockers will put on these 4080s... lol, judging but the 4090 prices i'm guessing it's going to be somewhere north of £1500.

People are already saying “with the price of the 4080, I’d be as well getting a 4090”. If people keep enabling them to get away with it, they will. Buy a competitors product or stick with the one you have. The only way they will change is if you vote with your wallet.

This.

I bet even the gang that were planning on getting the 4070 as it was going to be better than a 3090 for £500 have had the shopping basket buy button on the 4090 in past few weeks.

yup same here, I bought the 3080fe for £650 thats the tier I stick around and max I would go is around £700-£750 and for them to price the 4080 16gb to £1269 ? and AIB will be higher is ridiculous and people will still buy it I have no words

% = performance increase from previous generation from Techpowerup reviews.
? = coming soon....

The current game lists on their site includes stuff which is hitting cpu or game engine throttling issues. Makes it fair but doesn't really paint the full picture of why you'd get a gpu like a 4090

Yeah techpowerup's charts aren't great - they benchmarked the 4090 using a 5800x. The 4090 is much faster than purgatory suggests using techpowerup's numbers because they are using a weak cpu (not to mention techpowerup uses DDR4 CL20 memory with their 5800x which is terrible memory for Ryzen and just makes the CPU bottleneck even worse for the 4090)

3 versions so far according to reddit

You think people that were hoping to spend 500 are now ready to fork out 2000?

I was hoping to entertain the thought of a 4080 but these prices look hilarious, all aboard the (almost certain to derail?) AMD hype train :p

Under normal conditions no. But for some the upgrade is no longer available if your around a 3080+ ampere. The only nvidia leap from that tier is to currently jump up to a 4090 which is what the 3090 was laughed at for (but a bit extra now). You could shortly go to a 4080 16GB but as it looks your stumping up £1270+ for a smaller performance leap.

Seems Nvidia have made sure this time that the price differences between cards will be more in line with performance maybe. 3090 was twice the price for 15% more performance. The very hefty 4090 price gives loads of room to adjust prices more in line with performance gain so maybe no card looks as good a value as the 3080 was. And that supposedly was a 'promotional' price.

I'll feel sick if one of the 4080 devices delivers most of the 4090 performance for loads less, but looking at that pricing it's 15% of the £1700 MSRP of the 4090, looking like price/performance ratio maybe much more in line this gen, meaning that 4090 owners wont feel as sick as 3090 owners.

4090 is a beast of a card - cant see needing much else for 4k for a while. 5000 series will be for high end VR, multi monitor high res displays for simmers and the like where a 4090 still cant deliver res&refresh fps.

To pull 3080/6800XT and above owners away from their very capable cards - they had to deliver something with whopping performance. If AMD manage to release in the same performance ballpark as Nvidia then it is evidence that they have been drip feeding performance all along as how would two competing companies manage to stay so close performance wise each time?
