NVIDIA 4000 Series

Did you notice what happened with the 5800X3D?

Sure, scalpers *tried* to scalp them. But that didn't last long at all. (I can buy one right now for under msrp)

Manufacturers and scalpers alike need to understand *why* GPU's sold at such high prices before, and are gathering dust with below-msrp pricing now.

If they try and price these products like money printers, they will get a rude awakening. (Unless something changes and GPU's can once again print money as quickly as they could before)

This is not even the first time this has happened either. Did AMD not end up with a load of 290X inventory after the 2017/18 crypto bubble they had to sell for much lower than they would have liked?

Yup can't personally see the same , we had the perfect storm last time which I can't see this time yeah I can see at the start might see it but can't see it lasting long unless we see stock being held back artificially

I am surprised how RTX3060 12GB are holding up price wise.

Yeah, £420 for the Gaming X, my Gaming X 2070 Super was £480 but its also faster than the 3060.

Its going to cost me at least £600+ for a meaningful upgrade from that, £700 for a 3070Ti Gaming X, that hurts, i can't afford that, over the years i've moved from £300 to £350, to £400 to £500 and now expected to move to £700 for ##70 class cards, no sorry i can't do it, i'm all tapped out.

Yes i no. Just wait for year end.

we look forward to validating the graphics DRAM on next-generation GPU platforms to bring it to market in time to meet an onslaught of new demand

Hmm so not yet validated, seems late to me - perhaps next year's cards?

If I got a card from the EVGA EU store, would I be able to use the step-up program when the 4000 series launched or do they give priority to new buyers?

Considering once the 30 series came out the 20 series cards could only upgrade to a 3050/3060 from 2022 I'd be wary of what shenanigans EVGA may pull with the 40 series step up program

That's pretty good.

4070 = 3090?

And £800.

What is the current rumour of VRAM on the 4070?

At the risk of the repeating the various is "xGB enough for the" threads, if it is 10GB will that be enough? The 1080 Ti was 11GB and if the 4070 is almost twice as fast (as the 3090 is), it really seems like it would be VRAM limited far too soon.

I think we should approach it from the other direction. How much VRAM is enough for 1080p, 1440p and 4K then look for the appropriate card.

Yes this seems to be how AMD are marketing their cards. They put on the box the resolution that the card is aimed at and the amount of memory. So the 7600xt might perform as fast as the 6800 at 1080p but it I doubt it will be marketed as a 4k card as it might have 8GB memory and perform worse than the 6800 in a game such as Far Cry 6 at 4k with the high resolution pack.
