NVIDIA 4000 Series

Nice one everyone! I actually got one into the basket for the 2nd drop but by the time I entered my card info they were out of stock again! Love the troll though haha :p. Will get one next time, no biggy. The discord alerts were definitely helpful. :)

Feels like people buying 4090 are the same that were buying the original Titans and not saying these prices would be the norm in a few generations.

I know it's been said many times over the last what feels like 20 years but once mainstream GPU's are costing 2k PC gaming will die imo.

This is the usual nonsense that people say every time next generation PC component prices increase. The fact is that these cards, even priced at £1700-£2000, are selling by the bucketload and PC games sales are only increasing.

It's of course fine to voice your frustrations with the ever-increasing prices, I don't like it either, but PC gaming is not dying and when the AMD 7900 series are released it will bring a lot of more mainstream high-end GPU performance to the PC market.

The RTX4090 is an insane leap in GPU performance and if you game at 4k or have a VR headset then there is pretty much no substitute for the performance it provides and it will easily enable 2 years of high-end gaming.

Managed to grab an FE today to potentially replace my Zotac Trinity (going to compare them an d see if it's worth it). Really want the Strix but that card just apparently does not exist to buy lol.

Have a look around more throughly. Its available now to buy for next week delivery at cheapest prices I've seen it (oc version and normal).

It's okay should be able to get the lowest tier for £400 :)

Wow that is some level of FOMO you have there.
It's more that, I play on an ultrawide and am looking to hold on to the 4090 as long as possible, so I want the overclocking headroom (even if it's marginal) to stick on a 4090 as long as possible. And the Zotac Trinity is a 450w card and my particular card has no overclocking potential. I know it sounds dumb.

I just happened to be reading a text message when the Telegram alert popped up so I literally was able to grab one straight away - although the phone reception was a little spotty I managed to do it!

I was choosing between a Strix or a TUF when I got the discord alert. Luckily it happened before I added either of those to my basket. It's mad that spending £1700 feels like a bargain, but that's a "free" next gen 3D AMD CPU early next year for me!

Not only is your ultrawide monitor likely of a lesser resolution than standard 4k, there is pretty much no meaningful performance gain from any additional overclocking headroom. The FE/Zotac/Strix all perform within range of each other and all run cool and quiet, so what you are doing is a pointless exercise and yes, a bit daft. Classic FOMO. :D
