NVIDIA 4000 Series

I am still on a i9-10940X CPU (so my mojo is running the X299 chipset) - I was going to upgrade to 13th gen but then read;ised that is an end of the line product so will wait for the 14th and then upgrade my mono and RAM then.

Not sure if you also do professional stuff but gaming you'll be bottlenecking that for sure and depending on resolution

It's more that, I play on an ultrawide and am looking to hold on to the 4090 as long as possible, so I want the overclocking headroom (even if it's marginal) to stick on a 4090 as long as possible. And the Zotac Trinity is a 450w card and my particular card has no overclocking potential. I know it sounds dumb.

Have you watched reviews between all models they don't offer anything they are voltage locked , and it's like 1-2 FPS in it

Ultra wide is probably gonna be bottlenecking it anyway as it is

Only thing the AIB offer is better temps which imo isn't worth the extra premium

Will I need to buy a different cable or will the one that comes with the FE ok? Was it more partner cards burning the adapters than FEs?

Anyway a good present to myself. Happy Christmas.

This is fair, but I'm also one of those nerds that likes to go for leader boards on 3Dmark and ****. I cancelled my FE order anyway.

Good luck pretty sure you'll need extreme cooling for that , if it's anything like 30 series FE cancelling you might not be able to order FE again for 40 series

should have kept hold of that FE imo, it really is down to silicone lottery this generation . Jay2cents has both a Stirx and FE and literally said he is doing all his benchmark runs using the FE as it is a better clocking card than his Strix :)

Just using MSI afterburner, which takes a few minutes (unless I'm wrong). My Suprim went up to 520/530w.
What was the performance increase that you measured?
I've been checking the website every few minutes for over a month. I literally had a dream about buying a 4090FE last night. This is so unfair.
Go for a Zotac or a Palit, they have been in stock regularly at OCUK.
for the first time in my life I'm showing restraint.. I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting old or because games suck at the moment.
Games suck? My dudeness, PC gaming has never been in a better state than it is now; there's tons of amazing titles (current and back catalogue over the last few years) to play at 4k120 on an OLED with your shiny new 4090! :D

Also when you factor in how cheap Steam keys generally are vs console releases I think it does work out decent value over time.

For anyone who has ordered an FE you may find it has some compatibility issue with your current setup , since installing mine from the last drop i am no longer able to see the Bios login screen ( where it says hit F2/ Del ) and now displays a Windows logo rather than Asus Rog , once in windows it will work fine though . I am able to get into the bios by hitting F2/ Del with no display after a reboot and the bios will then come up just don't see the initial boot screen . I am not the only one with this problem as a quick search online will find many people with this exact issue , now Nvidia are aware of this issue but are not making it public yet and have withheld the updated bios for the FE that is apparently coming out ( need it now ffs ! ) , they seem more interested in going round the internet deleting everyone's post who mentions it  This issue is unique to the FE card as also had a Zotac and that was perfect and had none of these issue.

I get what he's saying, I'm in the same boat but can't decipher if its age or whether games are not exciting me, I suppose its subjective.
OLED gaming is amazing but screen size is still a little awkward for traditional desk-keyboard and mouse players

I'm also running an all Asus build so GPU is the final piece of the puzzle.

I've also got mainly an Asus Build but couldn't stomach the ROG Tax this generation especially considering it offers nothing if not worse performance than an FE or cheaper model... can understand why you would maybe want it for aesthetics but that's a big outlay just to make it look nicer but i do get where your coming from as i am considering an Active backplate for the 4090 FE even though it does sweet fa for cooling it certainly does look good but cost an extra £100 odd

Absolutely fair tbh, don't blame anyone for not wanting to spend so much. What is the active backplate you are talking about? Got a link, I'm curious

I don't play any keyboard and mouse games on my OLED TV, it's in my living room so I play with a PS5 pad while sat back in a recliner. I have a 25m HDMI 2.1 cable going from my PC in my bedroom through a wall to the living room to get connectivity and then the bluetooth aerial that came with my mobo is powerful enough to give me a signal for all my input devices. It's pretty bad ass. :D

All keyboard and mouse games that I play (basically any strategy games) are sat at my nice ergonomic desk and chair. :)

Paying hundreds extra for a GPU just to run an 'all ASUS build'? Holy moly.
