They all have it to some degree, just depends how sensitive you are to it. While some have it worse than others, I don’t believe any one model has it more than others.Which versions of the 4090 are suffering the most coil whine or noisy fans?
I’ve decided I now want a 4090 despite saying a 3090Ti was enough I just want to spend some money tbh.
I mean this is case in point isn't it. You pay so much for the GPU but it comes with fault adapters. Sigh...My Suprim X came with a faulty adapter out the box. Power limit capped at 100% instead of the 108%. I replaced the adapter with a Cablemod cable, problem solved.
The supplier knows you want the card and it's in high demand so they are not really worried about you raising an issue about the adapter and they will always quote recommended thresholds. I believe there is a 600W bios for it where you can go as high as 125%. Sounds crazy though.Oh it gets better. This is what MSI support had to say about my issue.
"Our repair engineers advise the card is not supposed to go to 108% in Afterburner. The result you see is expected, and the correct behavior of the card.
We therefore believe your adapter is working exactly as intended, and should not be in need of a replacement."
gg MSI
Suprim X has quiet fans but all of them seem to coil whine.Which versions of the 4090 are suffering the most coil whine or noisy fans?
Well it depends what you are aiming for. On 3080(not 3090) active backplate was better by 2 degrees core delta from passive on stock pads and 4 degrees using gelid ultimate, and it was a 350W card.As far as I can see it’s not worth it, the non active backplate will act as a heatspreader anyway and that’s all the stock card has.
Looks wise obviously if you’re going for acrylic and LEDs then may be worth it for those reasons.
See Jays picture above for example! Fancy looking
I’ve ordered the MSI gaming trio, would prefer the FE and was nearly tempted to pay slightly over the odds on eBay but there’s little chance of any warranty if it goes **** up.theres no point going over 70% in any games I've played, the only time I've ever 100% is when I compare FPS to someone else

I think Zoltac people claim don't coil whine so much but have noisier fans, someone on here said the zoltac fans were too much for them.
just get any card that has a vapor chamber
i have the trio i like it mine has no coil whine i can hear, quiet under load, bought it on launch day £1699. only issue i have is that it continues to run at high speeds after ive finished gaming idk what it is but i doubt its a fault with the card its more likely something with my pc setup.I’ve ordered the MSI gaming trio, would prefer the FE and was nearly tempted to pay slightly over the odds on eBay but there’s little chance of any warranty if it goes **** up.
My fans aren’t too bad, they never really go over 30-40%. I hear my EKB AIO fan over everything in my case lol.theres no point going over 70% in any games I've played, the only time I've ever 100% is when I compare FPS to someone else

someone on here said they had an MSI, sent it back because of coil whine and got a zoltac, but the zoltac fans were so loud they sent it back and went to MSI againMy fans aren’t too bad, they never really go over 30-40%. I hear my EKB AIO fan over everything in my case lol.
I bought that one (just arrived) - its had good reviews but is only 3 into 1 rather than 4 so not sure if that has an impact? My FE should be arriving sometime today.
Really don't like the idea of using the stock 12VHP adapter.
Would the following be the sufficient (as a stop gap) until the CableMod adapter becomes available?
