NVIDIA 4000 Series

Is he though? I'm not convinced that he's correct on this, but I don't get the impression that he's maliciously lying about it.
Maybe I'm accidentally communicating that he's being malicious (ill will), which is not my intent, but dishonest (telling lies) in his advice. His advice is contrary to all the evidence.
There's plenty of stock in retail outlets, the crypto market is not what it was 2 years ago, scalpers have competition from miners and well-stocked retailers, and AMD is cutting prices and undercutting Nvidia. 6900XT for the same price as a 3080 right now here on OCUK.
Simply put, the conditions he's alluded to that created the GPU shortage are not in place at this time. So why would you struggle to get a 4000 series card?
The only thing I can see is the supply chain crisis for raw materials to produce GPUs, which according to news sources, has considerably improved in recent months.
Maybe I will be wrong in the next 6 months, but that would mean a massive bounce in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, warehouses of GPUs worldwide drying up, more supply chain issues etc.

Agree. But he is guilty of doing the standard Youtuber click-baiter tripe on all this. It's disappointing how much of it is going on.

Even Steve of GN seems to spend more of his time creating fake drama these days rather than concentrating on actual reviews; I find myself skipping quickly through most of his videos as there is so much filler rubbish.

Steve and Tim at HUB seem to be the only ones with some integrity left.

And Linus? My god, can't stand the guy; been skipping his stuff for years now! :)

I don't think Jay is shill.. but he is obviously being deliberately misled by his 'insider'.
Firstly there is no insider, he probably knows or has contacts within certain AiB's but they themselves are fed smoke & mirrors from Nvidia. Unless you somehow know the execs or PA's of Nvidia and they are somehow willing to part with commercially sensitive information all you really have is an opinion from someone in the industry or supply chain getting their info 3rd hand once its past through Nvidia's PR machine.

Secondly in order for Jay to hold any level of integrity in this he would literally have to live in a bubble and wilfully ignore the signs, the signals, the tech news, the track record, the market conditions. I'm not sure that paints a good picture either...

I have no particular hate for the guy, but I don't like what he tried to pull or influence in this case.

He's in Nvidia and EVGA's pockets.
maybe, maybe not. but i will agree his stance seems a bit out there compared with the majority.

he maybe right but as hardware unboxed have pointed out there's a lot of high end stock just sitting there as no one is willing to drop close to £1k or more on cards that could be half as slow as their replacement by end of year, and the people who will pay whatever to get the fastest have already done so. now its down to us looking for a fast card at a reasonable price, which yes the prices are better, they are nowhere near good enough when we all know new gpu's are at most 5 months away, now will we be able to get one thats a whole other topic.

Then fact check and do some research before announcing it? In that last video linked here he disclosed it was from 'numerous sources'.

Personally I think Nvidia will release the 4090 in the next month or so to get the speed crown and cover off any AMD release. They will charge 2000 quid (or more) for a power hungry but very, very fast card then sit back and watch shell shocked people buy up the 30 series before releasing the rest of the 40 series line up next year.
I should go on YouTube as it doesn`t matter whether it happens or not :D

There's always the possibility they launch FE cards first and AIB partner later - that would explain why AIB partner sources are saying next year. Then they just have to keep FE supply to a minimum and demand for other parts will remain high.

Yeah I guess that could be how it materialises, however its implied as the 40 series in general but it looks like he has some more videos out since then. Best wait for other channels opinions before taking any of it as real information.

That would just infuriate/alienate the AIB's even more... not only are they stuck trying to clear backlogged inventories, while trying to do so nvidia is reaping the high end halo market all on its own.

No, i will bet money its going to be a '4090 only' fall/winter from nvidia and partners until the 30x0 backlog clears.

Of course it will really depend on AMD's RDNA3 launch... whenever it happens nvidia will have to respond, either with massive price cuts or with the rest of the 4070/4080 class cards.

Agree with this, they tried backing out of their fab order so its clear they want to drag it out. It just sucks for those that were planning on a 4070 maybe even a 4080 if its pushed back a few weeks. Bet your bottom dollar though if nvidia sniffs AMD launching good volume of 7800's suddenly the hardware will be available pronto!

Titan, Quadro & Tesla cards etc were never available to AIBS so nothing stopping Nvidia doing the same with 4090 class cards (aka Titan Lite class), Nvidia is trying hard to sell their own cards as they have realised a better business model than just having AIBS making the extra profits and the 30 series FE GPUS are in such high demand all the time they realised why give the AIBS the profits and with what is happening in the world right now and their share prices that would be a good trick to raise their share prices and they get to keep more profits for their shareholders, Also who knows how many GPU dies they even have that are good and can be sold, maybe they don't even have enough for themselves so far for their FE cards or even the VRAM chips, so why would they give them to AIBS. ;)

This to me would make the most logical sense. Honestly, the rumours that Nvidia would launch nothing and wait for a year while AMD release their new generation unchallenged for a year just seem beyond ridiculous.

Releasing the 4090 as an extreme performance part that few people can afford would allow them to retain the performance crown (unless AMD really come up with something special, I live in hope) and yet not bite into the 4060/4070/4080 market where they can keep clearing stock of Ampere at cut prices.

AIBs did a lot of damage during Ampere with their huge mark ups, Nvidia also lost trust in them due to the way they were selling to miners which is why LHR cards were initially limited to AIBs and not FE. Even HUB noticed this, and he said himself he looked at the MSRP from AIBS going up and up and up and up every few weeks, as people were solely blaming retailers and Nvidia/AMD with AIBs considered saints.

However Nvidia do need the AIBs for their reach into the market so I think the launch will of course include AIBs.

Nvidia need to create the mass hysteria hype at a launch which will carry through the next 2 years and releasing a single $2k card just won't do that and if anything have the opposite effect.
