NVIDIA 4000 Series

I can't say about 4090s, but I've had mostly Zotac and Palit cards over the last few years, and have nothing bad to say about them. My Palit 2080Ti is still going strong, as is the Zotac 1070Ti.

Warranty length, and maybe RMA policy/speed, really is going to be a good metric here.
im still unsure what you are paying 400-600 more for an asus/msi/gigabyte one for over some of the cheapest models, unless cheap ones have teribad warranty

A change of direction ,(bare with me as I am fast approaching 70)I will not be getting my 4090 for Xmas as its been sitting at DPD Lincoln for the last 6 days, but It is now hopefully making its way back to Overclockers, and I would like to say a big thanks to them for sorting this out (Oliver L) customer service par none, happy Xmas to everyone.

Now the cards been out a couple of months, what is everyone's overclock?
Have you used the usual stress tests and posted about values, to find a game that is unstable vs the stress tests?
I found ghostwire Tokyo and sackboy to be 2 games that find my unstable overclock that the stress tests and benches don't.

Was running at 3045/3060 core and 1600 ram for benching, stress tests and most games.
After tweaking for Ghostwire Tokyo and Sackboy, my oc is now 3000/15 core (starts at 3015 and bins down at 52) and 1300 memory.

I've read that the memory likes to be hot, so I guess I'm stuck at 1300 as the memory is around 20 degree and maxing at 40ish (under water)

Same having used the likes of PNY, Zotac and Palit over the years none have failed me. Not the best overclockers or anything special mind you but they sure do soldier on just fine. My PNY 680 soldiered on for nearly 5 years before i sold it on to someone else.

RX RT isn't all that bad but it's not worth a £1000+ like the 4080 is not.

Does the die size to price chart they used put to bed the but...but...we're having to pay more because the 4000 are using bigger dies or more transistors.

Jensen talking out his ass as per.

Just something to keep in mind, out of that list these are the games that are Nvidia sponsored.
  1. Cyberpunk 2077 (and the new Witcher too :D )
  2. Dying light 2
  3. Lego
  4. Ghostwire Tokyo
  5. F1 2021
  6. Metro Exodus
  7. Guardians
  8. Doom Eternal
Far Cry 6 is the single AMD sponsored title in that list. Not exactly a balanced list of titles, but when you put that into context, the 7900 XTX RT performance ain't all that bad.

Riftbreaker is amd sponsored too.

Metro ee was/is also the best showcase for RDNA 2 RT as it performs very well when hairworks is turned off (that issue with hairworks and RT being on at the same time may have been fixed though). Is doom eternal sponsored by nvidia too? I don't think it is either amd or nvidia sponsored but could be wrong for that one.

Either way, I rather see them titles that push RT if comparing RT perf. than gimped RT titles ;)

Overall, it's a good showing for amds RT performance now. Much more usable than rdna 2.

Got some other amd sponsored and neutral titles there.

And filtering so only amd sponsored and neutral titles:

I don't think spidermans RT is nvidia influenced/sponsored either though (it had RT on consoles long before it came to PC and has only had the resolution etc. dialled up.... only the other RTX features are) but will leave it of anyway....

RT isn't a magic button. There's various levels of depth in it's implementation and the number of calculations matter. Naturally, nvidia is going to want to more RT load as their hardware is better equipped for it.

Funny enough, FC6's RT implementations are some of the least impacting out there and generally a poor representation of the tech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVxwYab6E8E

Even then a good chunk of their sponsored RT titles use pretty limited RT e.g.

- gotg
- F1 2021 (they should use 22 one as it has much better use of RT, also runs very well on amd too)

Only 4 titles that I would say are nvidia biased in pcgh benchmark would be cp 2077, lego, ghostwire toyko and dl 2

Can't fault zotac 2080ti no issues 3090 zotac no issues don't forget about the 5 Yr extended warranty if your register it online.
