NVIDIA 4000 Series

RT isn't a magic button. There's various levels of depth in it's implementation and the number of calculations matter. Naturally, nvidia is going to want to more RT load as their hardware is better equipped for it.

Funny enough, FC6's RT implementations are some of the least impacting out there and generally a poor representation of the tech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVxwYab6E8E
It actually is a magic button when the game it's used on is designed to take advantage of a certain uarch.
Remember, these games aren't 100% RT. RT is implemented within a rasterized game. So how the game is code is just as important. Regardless if the game has additional ray tracing or not.

Amazon US and UK the 4080 is not in sight, as for dodgy newegg, the least said the better. Cheapest 4080 FE cards are all in stock over Europe and have been for days, weeks in the likes of France and Germany. They are not selling that many.

RT is a magic button when the game engine is built for it, the most modern versions of the major game engines have been designed with RT built in and it can be as simple as clicking a button

Here is a video guide for UE5.1, It's like 3 or 4 mouse clicks to enable ray tracing and then you just modify the settings to optimise it for your hardware, things like how many light bounces etc

Well that's the point, we are all waiting for the big games with unreal engine 5 and equivalent new engines that have been developed with RT built in.

Until then it's a mixed bag and poorly optimized.

CDPR essentially wasted years breaking redengine instead of focusing on their actual games and that's likely why they are moving to unreal.

What's the point though if the cost of the hardware to run these games will be out of reach for many for another 10 years.

Sorry i cant offer much help for undervolting , as mentioned i find it is very efficient as stock and only uses what it needs for the desired fps ... it is nothing like the 3090 was which was pretty inefficient.

Video on undervolt on why not to do it on the 40 series :)

He is right if you care about every 1% of performance and consider power draw an "I dont care".

But he went down from 456 to 446 fps for a power draw drop of 390w to 320w.

So he lost 2% performance, for a power draw drop of 18%.

Looks like a good deal to me.

MLID has released his images of the Titan he talked about for months

It's a four slot 600w GPU with a fully unlocked AD102 silicon. He doesn't know what memory or clocks speed it actually ran and at for the samples that were built for testing.

He was saving the photos for when he had more specs to release but this GPu is never coming out as it was decided it's not needed and cancelled so now he's milking what ad revenue he can by releasing the photos now

I think within the next 10 years even the most enthusiastic PC hobbyist will be stepping down from the hobby as the price to get decent quality just keeps going up and up and up, I'm not talking of the best but something not made of rubbish.

Now price wise mid range is where high end was a few years ago i.e around 2017'ish which at this pace is unsustainable.

I genuinely believe the industry needs to have a collective sit down i.e AMD, Apple, Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Samsung etc etc... and talk about halting performance advancement, Which is sky rocketing in cost every few years, For a few years to rein in pricing and massively boost efficiency as it cannot go on like this.

I'm quite positive the world would be fine for a fair few years with the current level of performance we have, Now it's time to focus on efficiency and massively lowering cost, Won't happen but it needs to.

On the RT topic, the next-gen withcher 3 uses it to great effect on an old game engine.
You do need a good GPU or DLSS 3 frame generation though to make best use of it.
Appears that RT does have a big CPU componenet, as confirmed when I upgraded to 5800X3d.

A great idea but I just can’t see it happening unfortunately.

It is already happening, I haven't bought any computer part for two years now since my Radeon 6800@£599 from OCUK. The current cost of living/energy crisis has put paid to that. The cost of computer parts ie cpu/motherboard/memory/graphics is through the roof. I have built myself a new computer every couple of years for a long time now, that will not happen again I fear unless the industry sorts itself out and stops being greedy $$$$$$$$! I normally pass on my last computer to one of my children so they will miss out sadly. Only the very rich (or people taking finance) can afford these latest cards, I am neither. I am mid sixties now and currently heating my house and food on the table is the priority. I still enjoy the forum and my current system allows me to play games and will do for a few years so its not to bad. I hope Santa is good to you all.

I think most people on here, as we work in tech, are fairly wealthy and can afford (but dont like) the new prices.
Saving at least £6k a year on commuting costs so pays for a few toys.

im a part time worker but i dont drink or smoke, i have to save up to buy the things i want but i use my pc as my hobby and my entertainment system so i can half justify the amount i blkow on it for how many hours i spend at the damn thing :)

I now haave a 4080 FE (I bought used) in my system now. It's a great GPU and thankfully no issues with coil whine, or black screens and I did hear a click when plugging in the power adpater. It is runing with 2x PCIE power connectors with one using the Y splitter.

Honestly the 7900 XT, the XTX and the 4080 are great GPUs, just overpriced. Both Nvidia and AMD dropped the ball in some aspects such as power connectors (Nvidia), black screens (Nvidia) and temperature issues (AMD) and driver issues (AMD) but I do think these issues tend to be overblown (no pun intended if your 4090 caught fire :))
