NVIDIA 4000 Series

If they are as ridiculously priced as their TUF and STRIX series then ASUS can go suck a big one. I am genuinely surprised they seem to sell so well when their markups are so outrageous vs other similar cards... it's grotesque even by the low standards set by PC hardware.

The Asus Noctua cards are even more expensive than Strix cards, iirc the Noctua rtx3070 was the same price as a strix rtx3080. The Noctua card is expensive for two reasons 1) it's a low volume card so fixed RnD engineering costs is high and 2) Noctua fans are extremely expensive expensive compared to the cheap Chinese fans normally used on graphics cards - each Noctua fan is about 10 times more expensive than the other fans on GPUs

As for why Asus is so expensive in general. It's all brand image and chart topping products. They benefit from their halo products and that's still the case with the rtx4090 - the Strix rtx4090 is both the coolest running and quietest air cooled 4090 on the market and that generates a lot of clout and brand recognition for them. And while I can't speak for UK, where I am, Asus has by far the best RMA service. Asus also has the best software among the GPU markers - that's not saying much but it's still the best among the AIBs

Never underestimate the desire for flex posting, e-peen obsessed PC gamers to flaunt their Asus equipped rigs online...
Never forget how some people post dozens upon dozens of posts mocking other people spending their own hard earned cash on whatever they choose to do so, mocking both the person and the product they buy. the threads these people post in run into the many 100's of pages. sad :(

A www..Boo hoo!

...and I see you didn't refute what I actually claimed to be the case

:D

LMAO nearly a grand for a 4060ti.

What was the MSRP of the 3060ti, about $360?

That's nearly a 3X price increase in one gen!

Wasn't the 3060ti about a grand during the height of crypto mining while the 3070 was about 1200 quid and now we have both new gen cards that replace those products in terms of die area at the same crypto price points.

It was the only way nvidia could continue to enjoy the huge margins from the past 2 years but fortunately most gamers are not going to pay crypto prices so while nvidia may enjoy the large margins they won't be enjoying the reduced revenue.

If I was going to buy a 40 series, I would seriously consider that. The idea of easily replaceable fans - what a godsend!

Well I sold my 3060ti Non-LHR for £1100 about a year ago, can't recall what the "new" prices were at the time, but I know I paid £480 for it, and that £100 too much at the time, so I reckon the MSRP was about £360?

I don't think we know yet, do we? I thought it was the 5th Jan.

My guess here is that because of the controversy surrounding the card that NVIDIA may drop the price by a token amount, but only token. And honestly who knows what people will do? They are wound up on a spring ready to buy. Maybe if they didn't buy the 4080 they will be tempted by the 4070ti?
Gamers are between the devil and the deep blue sea here, because even if the price was reasonable (whatever that means) then the scalpers would be all over them. Either way we will get shafted.
People just need to calm down and do something else instead.
It’s been posted on Reddit of a Canadian retailer showing $1300CAD which is $960.

Not final pricing I’m guessing but if there’s any truth to it then it’s outrageous pricing.

To be expected though after the 4080, and it's not like AMD did that much to push down either. Just feels like a repeat of the 20 series to me, not gonna lie. Maybe the 50 series will reveal with Jensen saying it's safe to upgrade again, lol.

Getting a 3080 for £649 is currently feeling like the steal of the decade.

I'm surprised reading reviews that the MSI one with the AIO wasn't actually any quieter or cooler than some of the other AIBs. Seemed an expensive premium for not a lot of gain
