NVIDIA 4000 Series

Any suggestions for a GPU?

My R9 390 is showing its age and having issues with overheating even though its had new paste and a good clean.

Res is at 1440p.

I have been putting off getting a new card and waiting on what the lower end cards would cost but if a 4070Ti is at that cost I am not being hopeful of getting 1 of them.

Budget is 4/500

How far apart are the FE drops usually? I notice the last 4090 FE drop was around the 14th Dec.

Should be able to get a 2nd hand 3080 at that price.

I have been tempted by 2nd hand but would always choose new for warranty etc.

knowing my luck I would get a 2nd hand card and it die then be back to square 1 again!

I get that, I am not keen on second hand parts either.

Why not buy from MM as people here are generally happy to cover the warranty for you.

£4-500 new won't get you performance anywhere near a 3080 as nvidia and AMD are pricing cards based on the performance from last gen so you have to pay more if you want more performance etc.

Same, I cannot see the 40 series having a card in that budget if the 4070Ti is that much. at the moment looking on OCUK it would be a 3060Ti\3070

Nah, Big profits incoming for AMD and Nvidia, Most we'll likely see is a £50 cut.

Yeah, the pricing kinda sucks and at the rate its going at I will not be able to buy a gpu as I am not willing to pay the stupid amounts AMD\Nvidia want

Thanks. Was looking for one that isn’t a quad-slot monster. Will have to just be patient for a FE because it’s the best all round option.

I love mine, though its on water now and is an absolute beast. The biggest step over previous gen in quite a while.

Depends how much they ordered and how much supply TSMC lets them cut but if prices stay the same and they ordered based on crypto sales then they would need cuts in the range of 80% to keep prices the same and not end up with a huge surplus in 2 years time again.

Just to give an idea of demand here is 3080 owners list compared to 4080 owners list over the same time period since release and bear in mind all those who ordered 3080s but were stuck on backorder.

I don't think that's true, sure not everyone will register on the owners thread but then the same would have been true if not more for those with 3080s.
