NVIDIA 4000 Series

Notice he didn't say £900+. Sounds like $800 MSRP for basic cards may be correct.

Nvidia would be smart to undercut the 7900 XT.

Maybe we can get some competition

According to the TPU aggregate data, the 7900xt is an exact match for the 3090ti in rasterisation and based on all the released 3D mark benches so far the 4070ti is also a match for the 3090ti. So if the 4070ti is priced lower than the 7900xt then that will force AMD into a price cut

The 4070ti is probably going to sell quite well coming in at $799. $100 cheaper than the 7900xt, has the same rasterisation performance as the 7900xt but naturally beats it in Ray tracing.

Nvidia already showed us the performance of the 4070 ti.

I think it will be 5-10% behind the 3090 ti. 3080 ti might be the better comparison. In pure rasterisation, I reckon it will be slower than the 7900 XT. I don't think nvidia would undercut it otherwise.

TPU even have a prediction.

Here is the suite of 3D mark results sorted with the 4070ti as the baseline. The 4070ti and 3090ti trade blows with each other and the 3090 and 3080ti are behind in everything

3dmark stopped being good at ordering cards a long time ago. AMD cards for example have always done well, especially when comparing RDNA2 against Ampere.

It's swings too much by architecture. It is also very sensitive to setup as people tend to use scores from different systems.

I think it'll land around 3080ti so better price to performance than a 4080 if it is indeed releasing for $800 but still not great for a 2 gen node jump.

Is there going to be news about all AD104 based GPUs at CES? Like the RTX 4070?

Or just the announcement of the RTX 4070 TI?

The 4070ti between 3090 and 3090ti performance for £800 surely isnt bad compared to those cards which people were happy to buy for £2000 12 months ago
The people who are happy to pay £2000 for a gpu have likely snapped up a 4090 though, this is aimed at people who bought a 3080 and it just doesn't deliver enough uplift to warrant £800+

This is the point - also, a lot of people who bought a 3080 paid more than rrp. This could be spending the same again, for very little base level difference.

It would be a purchase that doesn't make sense.

3080 performance at $700 is my reference point for measuring Ada's progress.

Using crypto-mining-boom scalper pricing would make the 3080 a total fail and useless as a reference point.

Does $700 ADA dollars perform at ~30% better than $700 Ampere dollars?

Way way many people bought cards from 3060Ti up to the 3080's for inflated prices. We will never know because most wont want to share how much they overpaid for them.

The thing is, it doesn't make sense for those who paid over the odds, but it still doesn't make sense for those who got a card at RRP or even less second hand.

It is not a good time to get your first GPU purchase as the initial outlay is just too high. Features, sure, but that will be true of any new gen refresh.

Long shot, does anyone here own the Gigabyte 4080 waterforce and has it installed in a Lian li o11 xl case?

Tempted to get this card to replace my 3080 but looking at the dimensions of the 4080 I am slightly concerned it won’t fit (might clash with the side panel).
