NVIDIA 4000 Series

Really thought the 4070ti was my answer to a new GPU solution. But reading these comments I'm wondering if that is the case.

I currently have a 1080ti and game with a 1440p 144hz monitor with no desire to go to 4k at all. I am toying with the idea of an UW panel though.

The 1080ti is showing it's age now for me and I am on the hunt for something new. I'm looking to spend less than 1k really and don't want to go second hande. I have thought about it multiple times and I feel Nvidia currently offer a better all round package.

I'm still thinking 4070ti is a potentially good buy for me. Shame there will be no FE though. Any suggestions?
You have to say that mostly anything below a 3080/6900 or 6950 isn't really a fantastic lift from your current card - which puts it slap bang on the 4700 ti - or possibly a 6950/6900 at right price. Or if 7900xt drops a bit...

I hate to say it but probably, yes. You can expect partner boards to be close to that limit of yours, and the performance increase over the 1080ti will be worthwhile. It just depends if you don't mind forking out that amount on a card that should cost a lot less. I would try to hang on for a bit and see where the market goes.

if performance holds up close to 3090ti in raw performance it will be very nice uplift from the 1080ti and fly at 1440p, the thing is its price is insulting at very least it should have been 4070 at around £599

But given their requirements:
a) wants to spend a grand
b) wants a nice uplift @ 1440p
c) should be well rounded
Theres only one product i could recommend that meets above requirements

i mean... there are still some great deals out there on new 6900xt.... that to me would be a great deal if you can nab for around 600/650.

Also if price on 3070/3070ti drops with 4070ti release then that would be an extremely capable card and uplift from 1080ti at a good price

If I was buying now I would likely look for used and give the finger to these companies even at peak I waited to grab the 3080 FE drop , for a grand ? isnt the 7900xtx the best beat then ? 4070ti wont be £799 maybe at launch some cheap AIB might be after will be more anyway

7900xtx isnt a grand in reality... especially aib boards... if you get a MBA board.. you are literally rolling the dice with the heat issues they are having...

I would RMA it if it had issues , Im looking long term its performance is much higher over 4070ti , 4070ti is only AIB how much you think the AIB of 4070ti gonna be ?

Personally wouldn't touch an MBA card, period. These 4070ti's are going to be stroking a grand so perhaps an XT would be the better alternative, depends on performance reviews due later today will decide this.

I wouldnt have any issues buying it would just RMA it if it had issues I consider it a small inconvenience when planning to keep card for long term and have that performance I had issue with very annoying coil whine on the 3080FE I couldnt live with it I RMA'd it and replacement was fine , I wouldnt touch any card this gen anyway due to pricing

even more reason to nab a 6900xt for 650 new.... ride out this gen and SMASH 1440p no problems and not lose your wallet
But they also want a well rounded feature set, i interpret that as good rt perf + upscaling support. Also not interested in used cards. Eventually this is just a hobby, the value equation can't be religiously followed like ppl buying a single cable for 65 eur sounds irrational but if those are the functional requirements meets the budget ..hmmm

I think that is a pretty interesting viewpoint about the generations being categories as opposed to ever new generation being "something for everyone"... I kind of view Car's in that way, all the said Sgt labelled "Mugs" buy new vehicles which depreciate by 15-20% the moment they're driven off the lot, then the "smart" people pick them up 1/2 years down the line for a great price/value.
The difference is here is it won't be the 2nd hand market that will be selling you previous gen models, obviously you'll still be able to pick them up on the 2nd hand market but the difference here is it costs very little to stockpile silicon dies so they can make new models really poor value for money with massive profit margins. If people buy them you're quids in, if they don't you can just leave them sitting on a shelf until they need to be made into a card.

I think the new normal will be new generation cards being awful value for money. Any they sell in either the form of founder editions or too AIB partners means they'll make big profits on each card, any they don't can be stockpiled until they release a newer generation, at which point you can lower the price of all those dies you have sitting on shelves and start selling them too your AIB partners at a more reasonable price while you move onto making the newer generation founder editions.

you can find them for 600-675 new. If you want RT.... sure def not a good option. But FSR is decent and rasterisation wise they will dominate 1440p and there are certain titles like Warzone which run like 50% better than Nvidia. Its a great value card and there is enough gap between it and a $900 XT or 4070TI imo..
