NVIDIA 5000 SERIES - ***NO COMPETITOR HINTING***

Wow, who needs scalpers when you have first party prices like that.

The 5080 owners will all soon be moaning about running out of vram.
nah, not on general gaming, yeah if they use the card for professional workloads, I bet it wont even render a 4k playback, 4080 literally just crashes and dies, 4090 did it just fine

Does anyone know why the Inno3D 5080 is so expensive? It's £1460 for an entry level card from a fairly unprestigious brand with no OC and no fancy extras. Previously their equivalent cards from the 30 and 40 series were close to MSRP...
Maybe the price got bumped up on it when there wasn't much cards left in stock?
Pretty mental though considering I managed to get a suprim liquid for cheaper.

Nah it's been like this since before 1400 today. It's not just at OCUK either, I saw it at another retailer for a very similar price. Kinda annoying because the form factor is good for me, but a £500 premium for zero performance benefit is just insane to me

I've just had my Palit 5080 pre-order from a competitor (that I requested to cancel!) update to say it is due to be delivered 31st Jan - 4th Feb. So I may end up with two.

No choice but to put it up for the highest bid

I can't fathom the idea of spending an entire month's worth of the median UK salary on a GPU, some of you guys must be absolute ballers to be dropping that sort of cash on a gaming component :p

You must be overestimating median salary mate... these GPUs are well over that

Also to anyone who is after a 5080... there's a brand new sealed 4090 on MM for close to RRP. If I'd ordered a 5080, I'd have cancelled and bought that instead.
But I'm not foolish enough to buy something so overpriced :D

Given the performance I reckon in 2 months, 5080 cards won't sell out even at MSRP.

So my earlier comment about FE being sold in person at the other place launch event. Someone just replied on twitter to me this

"Apparently Nvidia were onsite and decided to let those queuing up to have them. Especially the 5090FE cards, which were thin on the ground already. Scalpers were not the issue this time round. Well spent a straight 4hours refreshing for a 5090, when there was nothing online."

If true Nvidia screwed us over twice lol. Hardly any stock online as most were sold at this event. Which by there own rules shouldn't happen as it's supposed to be strictly via their website and get fulfilled by said company.

Maybe they want to run RT at an acceptable speed, because the current AMD generation while great at raster absolutely suck at RT.

Doesn't the 7900XTX run RT at a similar level to the RTX 3080? That is still good enough for most people unless you want to run path tracing.
