NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

I think the way Nvidia see it is that if it is faster it is more expensive.

5080 faster than 4090?

Then it is in the tier above and priced to match.

Not with less VRAM IMO. The thing is we are all hyped for SUPER expensive pricing, just expensive pricing is going to have people shouting amazing value.

I've been having a great time with my 3050 at 4k. I want a new card, but only to a certain point (£1200 5080 & £2200 5090 max).

That's not it. They see it as no competition, crazy mind share, and AI craze so might as well.

If they saw it like you said, over the years price for performance would never have improved and a 4090/5090 would have cost a lot more.

... Crazy to think 2k set aside might not be enough for a 5090.
That's as much as I'm willing to put out for one as well, Which to be honest is still pretty ridiculous, But unfortunately CUDA Is the real reason I'm looking at getting one. But even then I don't think I could remotely justify anything over £2k. But if that's the way Nvidia want to play it then I also don't have any problems with getting a second hand 4090 and just sucking up the performance difference for the ai stuff.

It's a lot of money to pay without a warranty though. But yeah 2000-2200, is my limit. If the 5080 really is £1500 and the 5090 is literally double the specs we have no chance. So fingers crossed it's not true. The +20% UK VAT makes it worse than US pricing.

That said it would also rule out the 5080 as thar is far too much for that spec.

So 2025 might be the year of MS Calculator and Minesweeper.

Normally you'd be right, but I've sworn off this gen as the XTX is doing everything I need it to and more (and was half the price of the 4090 I sold!). Can afford it but just can't justify it, don't do the gaming!

Thank you for joining the group of people who let us know you can afford it. It is very, very important that everybody understands when you can afford something.
