Agree, there is definitely scope for it to go higher, especially if AI demand continues. Now if 2nm is considered for the 60 series (i doubt it), then it may cost £3k.

Not may, it will.

Saying that, at some point the AI aspect will move on to specific units and surpass GPU's for doing certain types of workloads. Your LLM and scientist will not want the GPU's then but it also depends how much AI gamers really dictate ahead. We all know Jensen will say this is needed for now but other developments and breakthrough's could change a lot. Typically we want the power consumption to come down though not go up.

With fab costs increasing, and the main way we are seeing performance jumps being increased die size and core count. Yeah I won't be surprise to see next gen go even higher

It probably will. But AI needs to start paying the bills and not just pumping up company valuations. That's not sustainable when you're spending billions a year.
Agree on your second point. The big tech companies (and especially cloud service providers) will increasingly transition to their own chips (fabbed on TSMC still) instead of paying Nvidia. So whilst that will be an interesting dynamic to observe.

Whilst technically true in terms of a cost per frame, it simply becomes harder to justify the higher the price, hence it appears worse value to many.

This is the point that kills me. nV basically built a bigger boat for their new generation and is charging a commeasurate amount for it. Want 30% more performance, pay 30% more... two years later. This is without precedent, not just for consumer GPUs, but for semi-conductors in general.

It's like if Gulfstream had just slapped bigger (but not new) engines on their G650, called it a G880, and charged 30% more.

Agreed, I think I'm going to skip Nvidia this gen, not sure what's going on with AMD either. Seem to have jebaited themselves before their cards even launch. Hopefully Intel offer a higher end battlemage GPU :p
