NVIDIA 780 Ti Announced (18/10/13)

Lol

AMD will win what this generation? They havent had anything to compete with the gk110 chip for nearly 9 months whilst Nvidia have made a killing selling a single gpu graphics card for £800!

Nvidia could sell potatoes for £1000 and Nvidia fans will still blindly buy it thinking it's the best potato because it has ChipX installed

You know AMD skipped a generation right and concentrated on getting the price right?

How much did you pay for your 7970 on release day out of curiosity?

£416

Only 5 more days to wait before I wish I got the classifieds at £539

Sounds like you and I are in similar boats.

The MSI R9 280X cards at £230 each make financial, and performance sense when Crossfired. However, I am loathed to buy cards that are 2 years old, as illogical as that may seem.

I need a card that performs really well at 1440p, which the MSI GTX 780 Lighting does, as shown by [H]ardOCP. But now that the 780ti has been announced, and with the 290x on the horizon, there's never been a more difficult time to buy (for me)!

I'm holding out in hope that 2 x 290s (non-X) may be the best bang for the buck.

I know I would be suspended now if I charged into an AMD thread and spouted all that garbage.

Dave, you are basing your notions on something that nobody has a clue on spec or price...Way to go.

If WOT's supported X fire I would snap two of the 280x's up right now!

Explain what is garbage? I'm not basing on notions i'm basing on brand loyality.

Rubbish. AMD are a business. They didnt just not release a competitor to the Titan/780 for months because they wanted to look aftertheir loyal customers wallets.

You have accused people of buying Nvidia cards because of brand loyalty and even saying they would see it like "Gollums Precious" (condescending much?)

Nvidia fans can't see how great AMD is because of the "Green tinted spectacles" (condescending much?)

You then say you are trying to dilute the derp in this thread. No information about this card at all, so any specs by a poster are complete guess work. By you adding more derp, that isn't really helping.

You then accuse Nvidia fans of blindly buying potatoes (if Nvidia released them for £1000 because they are from Nvidia). A very childish comment really.

Pretty rude and frankly, I see them as trolling posts.

It is almost worth the suspension just to go into the 290x thread and repost what dave has just said word for word but exchanging Nvidia for AMD......almost

just to prove the point.;)

The "Gollums Precious" remark was because most will defend Nvidia to the hilt despite any shortfalls and it's far from condescending. The green tinted spectacles is for the same reason.
The derp I refer to in this thread is how AMD are in trouble now with the 780ti on the horizon and how it will out-perform the R290X without any specs confirmed, congratulations based on nothing except the rule of Gollum.

They're not trolling posts they're posts from someone who is telling it how it is, if you find that rude then you must be very sensitive.
Ask yourself, if the 780ti's performance is less than the R290X when they're released, what percentage of those in this thread singing the 780ti's praises would actually buy one or two R290X's instead of the 780ti?

This is a gross over-generalisation at best and blind ignorance at worst. I have seen many Nvidia fans lash out at Nvidia for the Titan and GTX780 pricing, or for the GTX770 being $100 more expensive than a R9 280X. I have also seen many of them purchase HD 7950s because they acknowledge it is by far the best bang for buck card available. Nvidia does have a brand recognition advantage, even if it is unwarranted and there are plenty of Nvidia fundies, but there are AMD fundamentalists who are just as bad.

You know AMD skipped a generation right and concentrated on getting the price right?

I'm not sure what you mean here? AMD are releasing R9 290X 8 months after Titan and 5 after GTX780. That is a massive lag in terms of not competing on performance. Excellent price/perf only goes so far.

AMD didn't have an 8000 series gpu, it was just an OEM rebrand, they skipped a gen.
Wrt price, if the 780ti was £1200 and out performed a Titan, those loyal to Nvidia would still buy it!

I heard exactly the same about how Nvidia are in trouble and how good the 290x will be even though we had no price or performance confirmation. And AMD STILL have not released any official benchies or price!

You read my mind. I quoted Daves posts and changed Nvidia to AMD but then thought it isn't worth the suspension. I like these forums and enjoy joining in with the sensible posters, so don't want another suspension or perma :(

Greg, would you buy an R290X if it was cheaper than and if it clearly outperformed anything Nvidia?
