NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I just wish their release wasn't an extra month later. I have a good feeling for their rasterisation performance but I feel like it's gonna be a Navi vs Turing repeat. AMD has good value but lacking in features/niche performance (RT etc) while the other side charges an arm and a leg for the extra goodies.
I'm in two minds about the scaling to say 80CU.
I'm surprised (shocked) AMD haven't dropped some hints. I feel they are letting Nvidia get all the publicity.

Agreed there is no actual way of telling how much ram is being used vs allocation. But if the game is allocating it there is a chance it could use it surely?

Assassins Creed Odyssey maxed out at 4K uses under 8Gb VRAM. I can see MSFS2020 using as much as you can throw at it but as someone else already said, it’s not really a game.

True, but it gets close to it. It's also on very old engine, textures aren't proper for 4K, and they have very aggressive lod management. I mean, I love the game dearly but this is pathetic, look at this.. check ground textures & roads.

EDIT: New URL for the forums, just had the pop-up, bottom right.

Are reference cards...sorry "founders".... cards  not typically very loud?
We will see in reviews, it all depends on when aftermarket stuff will be released. I may choose to wait or deal with loud fans. Going reference also means I can watercool it also if I wish easier.

Interested to see how the front and rear fan configuration works in reality from a performance and acoustic point of view.

You may have a point but I can’t really say I’ve noticed it while playing. It looks stunning in places and it’s the game I keep coming back to at present.

There is no certainty until the event, Nvidia can change quite a few things I wouldn't expect much from AMD until end of next week tbh

Current thinking is that AMD will offer more Vram in direct competition with the 3080
